Subject: Are Referees Hesitating?

I'm writing to ask if the NRL Referees are wary of getting a mouthful from players if they penalise them if they tackle high or do a grapel tackle? You see it all the time and they don't act...about 18 months ago you saw lots of these penalities, it seems to be a fad you have a lot of penalities for something and then you don't e.g obstruction and incorrect play the ball...if the players don't like it march them 10,I have done it as a junior ref, we are there as REFEREE'S AND TO CONSISTENTLY APPLY THE RULES OF THE GAME,I know you need to communicate and use commonsense as well as effective penalities, you can't go overboard but I fear that some players appear to have too much influence over the refs now.Look at the way we get spoken to by players out there it's appalling not just in the NRL but in any sport, they are suppossed to be ROLE MODELS for juniors and in the public in general.
These are just my opinions as a junior ref,and I respect others opinions equally, whether they be junior or senior/officials.
