I posted a message on this issue a few days ago, but surprisingly, no comment from Webmaster or anyone else.

Judging by today's Wales on Sunday,a reduction in the number of clubs is back on the agenda with recommendations to be put before the Clubs before the end of the year.

Provincial rugby is also a major talking point, but I really can't see this happening. No identity, game in Wales is based on clubs. Therefore, a franchise system is most likely to be the way forward. Number of clubs to be about 4 and we all know who they will be !!

So where does that leave us, Aberavon, Newbridge, Ebbw Vale, Caerphilly, Neath and one or two others ?

We have to have a vibrant club game in Wales, otherwise people will just lose interest. Nothing stirs the emotions more than a local derby.

ROB WOULD APPRECIATE THE CLUB'S VIEW ON THIS.

[> Subject: You say that Provincial Rugby is a non-starter because the game in Wales is traditionally based on clubs, but the WRU threw tradition away a few years ago. I suggest that if we come down to 4 or 5 clubs then we are not basing our rugby on a club system at all. This is just provincial rugby under another name because the WRU haven't got the guts to fight the money men. Having gone that far we should go the last step, throw tradition out of the window and go for true provinces with a vibrant semi-professional club system underpinning it. Who is going to support the super teams, Cardiff supporters will support Cardiff, etc, with the majority of Welsh rugby fans disenfranchised.
