Subject: Saint Barbara :-)

I thought I remembered in the back of my mind, that there was a Saint Barbara. Well, not to sound like a fool here for asking, I looked it up...and voila...I was right!
Saint Barbara was extaordinarily beautiful (but of course) and her father feared that she would go off with another man so had her kept tightly home bound. He went away for a time and while he was gone she turned to religion which really ired him, and she was put to death for her practices...by her own father! Wow!

This is a long story, so I'm posting the link.

Catie, do people in your denomination name kids after saints?

In the Catholic Church, it used to be required. I don't think it is anymore, but it's encouraged. You can use the feminine form of a boys name, like Brianna for Brian.

The link is missing.

Kids named after saints, nope, not really. It isn't required some like to give biblical names. Our 3 have biblical names for their middle names. (Elizabeth, Matthew, Joseph) The names were chosen because of their meanings though. My name: Mary=Bitter Catherine=Pure - "pure bitter" lol
