It's easy to fall into the trap, because it's so darned much fun. :-)

I spend my share on Xmas, but I enjoy it so much. My nieces and nephews love my gifts. I'm such a bargain hunter, and they get lots of little things in one package. It's like a giant stocking in a box.

Even if Xmas wasn't a consumer's holiday, I'd be right in there making it commercial for myself. Any excuse to shop. I even do my family's shopping for them. I was my father's personal shopper for years.

Maybe that's why I'm not bothered by the whole thing. I love to shop. It doesn't stress me to do it. The challenge of finding a gift that will really tickle the recipient is one of my favorite things to do. That and the fact that I never stop looking for Xmas gifts. I guess that's why it's so easy for me. When I see it, I buy it. If I waited until Dec. I might feel stressed about it like everyone else.

You bring back memories of Easter. Every year we got a new dress, spring coat, hat, and shoes. Well, some years I got my sister's old shoes, gloves, and tights. Problem was that they didn't really fit. She was 2 years older, but I was bigger than she was the previous Easter. So I had shoes that pinched, tights that weren't quite long enough, and gloves that didn't fit -think of the picture of O.J. w/ the glove defense, only not as small. :-)

Oh, and those straw hats itched. But I loved every minute of it just the same. The thrill of the new, special outfit was part of the excitement. And the thought of a basket full of candy could just send me. :-)

But we only got candy. I don't think there was ever any toy, coloring book, or anything like that. Just candy. OK by me and my sweet tooth.

What was your favorite Easter candy? Mine was a solid chocolate Easter bunny. It just tasted better in that shape. :-)

Joan

Do you remember the patent leather shoes? Those and the Easter hats I remember most. I recall the squeek sound of my new shoes and the "crunch" sound from my stiff new crinolines. Good grief. lol But by far the hollow chocolate bunnies were my favorites. Did you like the Peeps? I did when I was young, and I must have eaten more than my share because today they make me sick to look at them! lol

I never liked Peeps. I loved jelly beans, except the black ones, and malted milk balls.

Yep, all 4 of us girls had Mary Janes. We had black for Christmas (got it first shot!) and white for Easter.

Did you get you basket before or after church? We woke up and found our baskets. Then we had to be torn away to get ready for church.

Joan

Those special patent leather shoes, and the crinolines...that the wider they stuck out, the better.
My next door neighbour lady, a lovely old soul, gave me a big solid chocolate Easter bunny each year, and like Joan said, in that shape it tasted even better! :-) I tried to make it last and last.
