Re:Pro'bly 4 or 5 yrs old...at Mass... -- Phil from AZ, 23:21:20 08/06/07 Mon [1] (71-223-15-110.phnx.qwest.net/71.223.15.110)
I do remember 1 in particular. It was my cousin's bap'sm. Much to everyone's amusement, my cousin was crying and the priest said softly for him to 'shut up'. Apparently, he wasnt used to babies crying...like the rest of us, who had younger siblings. LoL.
Take care, God Bless,
Phil from AZ

I remember the old ladies' perfume. ;-) -- Joan, 03:36:44 08/07/07 Tue [1] (ip68-0-253-131.ri.ri.cox.net/68.0.253.131)
I can't remember not going to church. I remember sitting in the back seat of the car on the way to church, and my father's Old Spice aftershave.
At church I remember sitting in the "crying room" and the old ladies' strong perfume.
Joan

My earliest memories (vivid too) I was around 3 years old. I remember my hair in a ponytail with a silk ribbon and the crinkling sound of my crinoline. That ponytail got tugged at if talked loudly or became too restless during service because I sat in front of my Grandmother, smack dab on the front pew. Several of us younger kids were placed there for the "children's" portion of the service. I was such a ham. (surprise!) I remember marching right up to the pulpit, being stood upon a chair, and singing into the microphone:
Go to the highways, sing it on the by-ways
Throw em a smile or two
Go heavy on the "Howdy-do"
For the Lord is counting on you!
*hee*hee

That is such a cute story! Didn't you get nervous singing for all those people in church?

Probably 4 or 5, like Phil..................... -- Barb, 08:02:14 08/07/07 Tue [1] (clgrtnt2-port-70.dial.telus.net/161.184.42.70)
but on a saturday morning at the synagogue, of course. What I remember especially was after the service, how my brothers and I would go downstairs to the basement level where the children would be served grape juice...instead of wine, of course. :-) I don't know if the adults had wine, and I doubt it. I think it was only a customary thing for the kids to have grape juice.

I was 2 years old....... -- Neysa, 10:03:38 08/07/07 Tue [1] (user-2inik4d.dialup.mindspring.com/165.121.80.141)
once we sat down in the pew. My mom told me that Jesus was coming. He would be standing near the altar by the priest. So, I expected this man in long hair and a beard, to be standing up there.
After a little while, I tugged at my mom's coat and said, "Mom, I don't think Jesus is coming today. Can we go home now, I'm hungry."
