Subject: Do You Say Grace (Blessing) Before Meals ?

Do you pray before eating meals at home? I've also seen people pray before eating a meal in a restaurant. Do you pray before eating in a restaurant?

If you do pray before eating a meal at home, do you hold hands like on the Walton's ?

Is there a special prayer you say ?

Only at spcl occasions do we hold hands: e.g. Christmas, Thxgvg, and Easter. I think that sets a good example when folks pray as a group b4 a meal at a restaurant. We did that nearly everytime we went out, when I belonged to a Christian Grp (The Navigators) when I was stn'd in VA.

My husband does on Thanksgiving. But that's it.

My family does. Sometimes we join hands and offer thanks (usually at a special dinner) other times, because we eat at different hours, we bow our heads individually and quietly say blessing. We don't make a big issue of it, but quietly whisper thanks and ask God's blessing so as not to make others around feel uncomfortable.

We only do on the holidays, if we have guests, or certain relatives from my mother's side, and we know that they always say grace.

She is no longer alive. Years ago when my mom's oldest sister and her husband were visiting us. We all sat down to eat. My parents and I started to eat. ( we forgot that Aunt Helen always says grace). My Aunt Helen, made us stop eating and say grace. I thought that was rude of her. It was our home and she was a guest. If she wanted to say grace she should have said it to herself.

Yes we bless the food everytime we eat, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a snack. We have to give thanks to our Creator for without him, we wouldn't have the beautiful bounty before us.
