Please invite Peg if you think she'd like to post.

"Constantine, the first Catholic pope accussed of doing the same for the Catholic church."

Constantine wasn't a Pope. His mother was a Christian, but he wasn't. In 313 (I think) he instituted the Edict of Milan that legalized Christianity. But Christianity was already practiced in the area (his mother was a Christian), so he didn't bring it to the area. He made it possible to practice it openly. Constantice gave the Pope (Pope Melchiades) the Lateran Basilica for a residence. It's still the Pope's official church. Constantine, besides giving the Church legal status and giving the Basilica to the Popes, built a Basilica over the tomb of St Peter's tomb.

St Peter was the 1st Pope. The Catholic Church traces it's roots back to the time of Jesus, the apostles and St Peter, the first pope, through Apostolic Succession.

Joan, I will mention it to her, but I will be surprised to find her here. She is constantly on the go. She is 69 years old (this month) and goes more now than ever before. It's been 7 years since her husband died. The first three years or so were really hard on her, besides the fact of missing a loving husband, he did everything around the house, kept up the grounds, the pool, etc. He was an electrician and was constantly helping folks in their neighborhood too. He was a self-made man.

Peggy could have retired long ago as James left her very well cared for financially. But she refuses and says work is her life line. (school teacher) Now she travels a lot during summers, and takes her grandchildren along. She volunteers at her church 2 times a week, and has owns a horse she boards and makes a point to ride daily. She takes an annual visit to a "dude ranche" in Colorado and is a pretty darn good rider now. She lets Makayla ride her beautiful horse. Peggy loves that horse, -Chance, named for the chance she took at her age to get up on a horse! LOL Says he has filled an empty spot. :) She tickles me. She says she's far too senile to remember or even act her age. LOL She has a wonderful sense of humor and exemplifies the word "Christian" in every way! I do wish she would come here even though Y'all could really gang up on me then. LOL
