I didn't know that it was the Jewish custom to have multiple wives. Since, Joseph was a lot older than Mary, was he married years before he was enspoused to Mary ? Perhaps, when he was younger he had multiple wives but they died. Is there anything in the Bible about this ???? Maybe, he had children from these marriages, thus, the statement about Jesus havig half-brothers and sisters.

Neysa if we are discounting points for spelling then I am in hot water. :)
The Old Testament is filled with stories of men having multiple wives. (David, Soloman, etc) We don't see a change in that custom in the new testatment, or nothing noted specifically that states it changed. Christ said to those who questioned him about Jewish law, that came to fulfill it and not to change it. Based on that I am "assuming" Joseph could very well had more wives if he could afford them. There is nothing in the new testament or elsewhere that states Joseph had other wives, or that he DIDN'T have other wives.
Gentiles on the other hand didn't adhere to the practice of polygmay, except for gentiles under the Noahide Laws. At the time Paul (new testament) began his teachings, he spoke that in order for a man to be a servant of God, active in his church, and to hold the position of deacon, etc, he should be the husband of one wife. But polygamy still continued under New Testament teaching.

About Noahide; Honestlyl, what I remember about some of the bible studies I attended in school is enough to fill a thimble. :) I took some of those classes mostly out of interest in the cute guys! That took me about 100 years to admit that. lol Some things I retained more clearly than others. I don't claim to know the answers. In fact some things I recall in bits and pieces and some things I have to ask my brother, because he is the expert. :) For this one I found some good info on the net. This will better explain it than my feeble attempt.
The Seven Noahide Laws are the minimal observance for non-Jews. The source of these laws and the basis of their understanding is the Oral Torah, which G-d gave to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai along with His Written Law. According to the explanation of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Hasidic Gentiles are also expected to perform additional mitzvos (commandments, laws, good deeds), such as giving to charity, praying regularly, and studying Torah. By learning from the Jews and performing the mitzvos, non-Jews have a crucial role in repairing and developing G-d's Creation.
The Seven Noahide Laws are the following:
Prohibition of idolatry
Prohibition of blasphemy
Prohibition of murder
Prohibition of theft
Prohibition of illicit relations
Prohibition of eating live meat
Prohibition of failing to establish courts of justice
