"Of course I’ve been here! And yes, sort of. It is a silk screen effect. This is where the shifter colony leaves."

"Sorry, how was I supposed to know?" he felt the slightest bit defensive at the sudden sharpness of her voice, but he let it go as she carried on talking. Yeah yeah, bite me. he added in his head as an afterthought. Still, he couldn't help his curiousity of this place shifting up a notch. At her next words his expression abruptly changed from looking slightly put-upon to one of intrigue. "Colony? You mean there's like lots of... us?" he was surprised, and didn't bother hiding it. He'd always thought he'd been one of only about, say, one or two others. Back in Israel when people started getting wind of what he was, he and his family were ostracised by nearly everyone they knew, so naturally he thought there was something wrong with him, that he was the only one. Apparently not.

"I can tell you’re a shifter. So, what do you change into? Or maybe you’re a were? Obviously, I’m a fox. A lot of weres live here though. They’re very tough."

"A Canaan dog. Just a dog, big deal. Still, it's useful for getting your way around places and stuff." he said almost thoughtfully, glancing up at the ceiling, as if he hadn't ever really given it that much thought. "But I don't really spend a lot of time as one. It's kinda weird. But uh- no, I'm not a were." Truth be told he'd always found the idea of stumbling across a were or vampire to be a somewhat frightening one, although he had never actually done so, so knew little about them and his preconcieved notions about them were probably wrong too.

He cocked his head to the side ever so slightly as he listened to her speak. Nice places in the Route. Bedrooms and things. Was it some sort of underground city, and the subway was just the gateway to it, or was this The Route and these bedrooms and nice places were all hidden around in here somewhere? Was it a kind of sanctuary, a safe refuge for shifters or was it a civilised and complex society on its own entirely?

"Honestly, you’ve never heard of this route? I came to this city just to live here."

He shook his head, biting his lip. "I sort of came here by accident, really." he smiled lamely. "Lucky me then, huh?" Was this place that wonderful? Damn if it was, he should wander around more often. God knows what else he might find.
