It was a sincere laughter that brushed off her rosy lips and filled the air around them. She had moved closer to him and stood with resolution. Her laughter was melting away her fear of him and his conversation was a welcomed challenge to her otherwise boring day. She listened in silence as he responded to her statements and smiled heartily at his genuine surprise. She felt her shoulders slacken as the tension rushed away from her body and she fell into a comfortable rhythm. As he spoke she studied his lips and accent with glossy eyes loosing track of her own body in the process. She was unaware of the nods of agreement or the smiles she was sending. She noted his duel nature with some satisfaction. Canine and canine, she liked it. She had the mental snapshot of two dogs laying in the dirt together, tired out by an afternoon of tug-a-war and chase.

She had to be honest with herself; she felt the tug of desire deep in her innards. It was a twitch that could scarcely be ignored. It was that familiar feeling of hopeful infatuation and the desire for it to be returned. She wanted this male as a traveling companion and friend but knew rushing to such conclusion could be hard on the heart. Unfortunately for society, this was a chess game of social protocol and had to be treated and scrutinized with intelligence. She sighed inwardly wishing it could be easier.

Lost in his voice and wide-eyed surprise, she almost missed his rhetorical question. Her eyes snapped back to his and were wider in a sort of unspoken giggle. He was lucky. Heck, she was lucky to have company. “I would say you should explore more.” She gestured to his previous bench. She sat, tucking her long jeaned legs under her body in a Indian like style. “Do you plan on staying in the city? ‘Cause if you do I could show you around?” She let the end of the sentence move up in pitch to gauge his reaction to the suggestion. She had been harsh at first and maybe he’d already passed judgment on her. Maybe he could help her move that chair she’d seen earlier. That’d be neat.
