Date Posted: Sun, Apr 13 2014, 20:30:58 GMT Hi all. Went flying last week, started well and ran sweet as a nut for over an hour. Did a mag drop on shutdown and all was in limits. Had a cup of tea, then thought I'd go for another whizz. The 582 just would not start, cranking well but no life in it at all. Flattened the battery cranking it over. Charged battery fully and tried again. Engine started at once, went for a 40 minute blast- landed and shutdown for about half an hour. When I tried to start it again it just would not start at all again!! Once started, the engine runs beautifully in the air with no problems at all. The charger suggested the battery was duff so I replaced it with a new one today. It wouldn't even turn the engine over, as though the new battery was flat. Tried a booster pack which spun it up just fine but still won't start. No spark at the plugs on either magneto!! Perhaps the new battery is a duffer, but even when cranked fast with the booster there was no sign of life. Any ideas, or am I finally going potty??
