Miss America has never been cheap to attend, I am unsure how what they are giving in scholarships has anything to do with that. I am pretty sure only the top 5 received scholarships last year also but I may be incorrect. (NT) | No name (NoHost/128.163.239.155) | 11:54:43 12/10/24 Tue |

I am definitely someone who has eye-rolled at the constant complaining on this board, but I was shocked to see this email... there's no real getting around the fact that it's a slap in the face to the girls. Maybe with the complaining, you all have been the boy who cried wolf. What incentive do they have to NOT do crazy things like this... (NT) | ...when you'll complain about everything anyways? In 2024 the only scholarships awarded were Winner/Top 5, 3 EG, 3 Fitness and 3 talent. Community service award was announced in the package but did not come to fruition. To clarify, only the top 5 and preliminary winners were awarded scholarship $. $10k for each runner up and $3k for each prelim winner. This makes absolutely no sense. Between Teen and Miss prelim awards the scholarships will total $54,000. Why not reduce that number for prelim awards. Give each prelim winner $1,000 so some of that can be given to the top ten. It makes no sense that the remaining semifinalists not in top five go home with nothing. If they were to award 1K to each prelim winner that would leave 36k and each top ten/11 semifinalist could receive 3K for making the top ten/11. It would be outstanding if every contestant recceived $5,000 in scholarships to the college of her choice or to pay student loans. And that the prelim winners received $5,000 each . And then the Top Ten each received $10,000. Then the 4th Runner-Up $15,000, 3rd Runner-Up $20,000, 2nd Runner-Up $25,000, 1st Runner-Up $30,000 and Miss America and Miss America's Teen each won $75,000 or $100,000. That is what would be awesome. The I would like to see Top 3 for Community Service receive $30,000, $20,000, $10,000. This would take $485,000 to $535,000 total if I did the math correct. Could that be raised from donors that included inidividuals businesses and foundations every year??? Nonprofits in Atlanta, Georgia alone raise millions each year. You have to have a program and the staff and baord to make it happen. Do I think it could? Yes. Do I think it will? No. Unless a pageant fanatic wins a huge lottery and underwrites it.. Who beside two runners-up last year qualified to be paid out these scholarships? And were those two $10K awards paid by MAO? (NT) | No name (NoHost/12.208.205.12) | 15:03:58 12/11/24 Wed |

Miss American seems to operate like the Insurance Companies-- take your premiums for years, then deny, deny, deny when it comes to scholarships. It's a corrupt system but now for Robin's personal PROFIT (NT) | No name (static-198-54-130-141.cust.tzulo.com/198.54.130.141) | 16:34:18 12/11/24 Wed |

Scrap the Teen program! Since the founding of the teen program, it has drained the funding for the Miss program greatly, especially in the area of scholarships. The cost of higher education has increased, yet the scholarships in the Miss division have decreased. At the beginning of the millennium, the first, second, third and fourth runners-up received $40K, $30K, $25K and 20K, respectively. Runners up at the 2019 program received $25K, $20K, $15K and 10K, respectively. That is a significant drop, especially for the first-runner up who receives $15K less. Considering how much resources go into preparing to compete at the national level – it is just not worth it! (NT) | No name (NoHost/208.127.185.241) | 23:37:08 12/13/24 Fri |

There is a big difference between "awarded" and "paid". You can award millions but if you only pay $100,000 - that is a problem. I would love to see the books of what has actually been paid out in checks written to colleges and universities. That is where the truth lies and I will bet that is a spreadsheet no one will ever see! (NT) | No name (NoHost/50.86.219.105) | 17:17:23 12/16/24 Mon |

Did anyone else scoff at these figures? Yes, the goofiness that the runners up all get the same amount, but more over, with all the drama of prior contestants saying they have not been paid — this announcement smells like BS to me. Like they’re announcing ridiculous amounts that are truly unbelievable. Where are the bank accounts with $224,000 ready to pay? And FWIW, my daughter won various scholarships from 3 pageant systems (never MAO nationals). Those 3 all paid quickly and easily with the required paperwork, so when these MAO gals aren’t paid it chaps my ass. And to the comment “lots of scholarships are awarded but not paid” I call BS. In addition to the 3 pageant scholarships my daughter won, she used 6 other college scholarships—all paid immediately to her university with no problems.
