Subject: I really don’t have a problem with the results. We all always think someone got left out as arm chair judges. SC (if you’ve followed pageants) has always been a strong competitor and successful. My only question with the top 5 is Mississippi. Let’s face it, she can’t sing. I think this is a great opportunity for women. There’s always room for improvement but we need more scholarship opportunities and glad there is a glam pageant option!

[> [> Subject: I don’t have any issues with top 5, they were all great competitors. My issue is with the top 16. At least 4 or 5 did not earn their spot there. There were so many talented girls who worked extremely hard all year long only to be passed over because they didn’t have a certain look. Thought this system was based on all 4 phases equally, but that clearly is not the case. It’s clear that’s it’s simply a beauty pageant. If that’s what they want, that’s fine, but advertise it as that. It’s disrespectful to the girls who were told it was about service and volunteerism, because it clearly is not.

[> [> [> Subject: I agree with you that many were left out of the 16 who deserved to be there. But service and volunteerism are not scored phases of competition. They are built into the interview but at no point does a girl receive a numbered score for either. It is a mathematical formula. Scores are scores are scores.

[> [> [> [> Subject: I should have clarified, I know the volunteerism is not scored. However that’s how the pageant is advertised. It seems to be based more on looks than anything else. So just be honest and advise it as such.

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: I thought they were pretty open about what the four categories of scored competition were. The underlying brand of the organization is based on volunteerism but you still have to have scored categories of competition. The two can coexist.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: There is no scoring based on volunteerism. They promote it and can ask a young lady about her efforts during interview. But the scoring is clear. So learn how this system scores it’s contestants and you will be less frustrated

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: And other systems promote volunteerism, education etc. don’t see folks screaming about those systems being unfair. I think the majority of these posts are from folks who thought MN should have gotten in there. Stop bashing a system that provides opportunities and scholarships to young women. There will never be a top 15 or winner everyone agrees on. So get over it.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: I have to admit, I was confused as to why MN was left out when she received 2 nonfinalist awards and community service. Maybe explain those a little more in depth, so people understand it. Also, I know this will never happen, but in the name of transparency, post the top 15 interviews so everyone can see what the judges saw. Might clear up some confusion.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: MN as a non finalist winner meant she had the highest score of those not announced in the top 15. So remove all the semi finalist scores and then she was the next best.
