 I spank that way because it is the way recommended by the mothers I know from church. I grew up in a non-religious household, which also had no spanking. After my divorce I was blessed to find and join this church.

To me it only makes sense, if a parent is going to spank.

I am not alone. Yesterday we were in line at checkout in a grocery store. Ahead of us was a mother with a four or five year old who was arguing and fussing about something. Mom finally asked "Do you want me to pull your pants down right here?" My eight year old said authoritatively "That kid is going to have his pants pulled down when they get home "

I gave the weary mother a knowing smile of support.
