  • Baylee is a lovely, good-hearted young woman who's a good competitor and is very supportive of the program. She's now competed at MO 5 seasons with a record of T10, NF, 2RU, 3RU, T10. #1 reason she didn't make finals- this year is the most competitive I can remember in at least a decade. Baylee strikes me as having a very childlike demeanor; not childISH, but tender and vulnerable which can come off as needy. MA's direction is a fierce, accomplished, glamorous woman, like our MA Madison. If I were a judge and therefore didn't know of her, I would believe, compared to others, she's not emotionally up to the job of a state titleholder. She's also dangerously thin. Don't come at me with reasons or it's 'fitness', the fact of the matter is she looks dangerously thin and that's not a standard I want presented to young girls.   • This is just my opinion but I’ve noticed a trend where if the contestant has an overly involved or outspoken parent the girl might get close but will not win. Steven doesn’t want to have to deal with a girl who has others advocating for her. Baylee has that. I’m not saying her mom has done anything wrong I’m just saying she’s very involved He also doesn’t want a girl who expresses her own opinions. He wants someone that will go along with whatever he wants without argument. Elizabetta may have been the exception. If it has to with volunteer then Luca Bella might as well hang it up too because she won there. She consistently talks about her eating disorder recovery and injury that debilitated her for a year and a half while recovering. • If you take a look at her Instagram, you'll notice that she rarely shares pictures of herself wearing her crown or sash. It seems like she might feel uncomfortable with being a Miss America local titleholder. It seems like she's more interested in having a title to boost her resume rather than making a positive impact. Her talent is not impressive, her sense of style is unconventional, and she uses editing techniques to alter her appearance in pictures. Caroline's talent was not worthy of a prelim win, which makes me think Steven was up to his shenanigan so it wouldn't look odd when she made finals. • #1 We are so used to having talent be worth 30-50% that many still make predications from that old scoring. I have to keep reminding myself that talent is only worth as much as gown and fitness.
  #2 Lauren's going to interview well and the judges will be looking forward to seeing her compete. Interview eliminates the bottom 2/3 of the class from contention.

  #4 To your comment, finally, lol: Lauren's Her Story is dynamic and engaging, where she highlights she's a private pilot- I think she flew herself to Miss Ohio!, and her racing career. Her presentation as a first-time contestant at Clev was impressive. I have no doubt she's upgraded it since. Our Miss America won with a Her Story.

• Honey, we don't make Miss Americas in Ohio. Ohio has made it clear to contestants for over 20 years that they only want a 'good Miss Ohio' and by rewarding meh contestants and passing over dynamic, truly talented, modern women for over 2 decades, the contestant field has greatly diminished. The brighter, more accomplished, and talented girls have realized that you can't get to Miss America through Ohio. Steven always picks meh over dynamic.
