Subject: Ethernet ***still*** broken; I must be cursed
In reply to: Scott Johnston 's message, "Re: Ethernet still broken; What am I doing wrong?" on 21:51:57 12/30/01 Sun

I removed anything in TCP/IP that points to any ISP. All I have done is choose Ethernet and DHCP. I then took the TCP/IP Preferences file and tossed it in the trash and rebooted.

I configured TCP/IP again (by only selecting Ethernet and DHCP). Then I rebooted again. I launched Eudora and Netscape and had the same problem.

The green light on the back of the ethernet card comes on when I plug the cable into it.

I found my original documantation that came from my ISP when I had DSL installed. It has Macintosh set up information in it. All it said to do was what you just told me; set up TCP/IP for ethernet and DHCP, and then reboot.

I wish I had some test program so I could put a loop back plug in the back of the ethernet card and run to it from the Mystic. That would at least tell me something.

I have another ethernet card coming in the mail. I'll swap that out and see what happens.

This new hard drive has a fresh load of 7.5 with 7.6 loaded on top of it.

I am going to drink some coffee, take a shower, and try it again. I'm stumped.
