We still do maintenance and preventative occasionally but we don’t really see any benefits from doing them regularly. That’s not to judge anyone who does, if it works for your family then do it. I think maintenance is good for behaviors that require long term attention or for a bunch of small issues or poor attitude. We really like preventative care more. I think the boys do great with a warm and sore bottom before a roadtrip or something like that. A warmup is usually with the hand over a bare bottom. However I have done warmups over their underwear for a quickie. I have also done warmups while doing diaper changes. I don’t think it’s good before a game or practice.
