My husband is a pretty good wood worker, so when we remodeled the kids bathroom a few years ago, we added a proper changing table he designed and build. It has a little ladder so the kids and climb onto it, and integrated sink for when we have to clean up a bigger mess, a heat lamp to keep the kids warm and straps to secure the child. It's also big enough that it can fit two of our children at the same time. I love it, the kids not so much. It's very obvious what it is, which has lead to some awkward questions when the kids have friends over and it made it very clear that dd was here to stay.
