I do believe Atlantis was a conglomerate of Islands.
These dry lands beyond the pillars of Hercules (Gibraltar) may have existed between Brazil and Africa.
Of course, there is not enough proof to substantiate these theories.
Although, I believe Atlantis may have existed, it does not preclude the idea of a myth instead of a true fact.
Remember that at first Troy and the Minoan ruins were just a legend until one day a visionary man decided to find the truth based on the Greek tales.
More than geological evidence is the difussionist theories that explain away the striking similarities in temples and pyramids of Yucatan, Mexico Egypt and the middle east.
If you truly believe in the plate tectonis theory, there is very room left for Plato's account.
You may want to read Velikovsky: Theories in collision and his intent to dismiss the ancient castrophics as mere legends into a historical reality.
