Who still Cares!
I am going to tell you who still cares!
The Vietnam war ended with the fall of Saigon April of 1975.As we all know, over fifty-eight thousand brave American warriors lost their lives defending the principles of the United States of America. During the duration of the war, an estimated 60 to 100 thousand draft dodgers cowardly left the country, rather than serve in the military. Forty-five years have passed since the end of the war. It did take long for the draft Dodgers to cowardly sneak back into the Good Old USA and take jobs away from returning Vietnam Veterans. Most never spent a day behind bars for their acts of treason! Some people still have the gaul to ask me, “When are you going to forgive and forget the Draft Dodgers of Vietnam War!” I always respond the same way, “When the sun burns out and hell freezes over, and not a damn day earlier!” For those who say, “Who still cares?” Well, I will gladly tell Who! Most every man and women that spent a full day in the jungles of South Vietnam, still cares as do the families of the fifty-eight thousand plus that bravely lost their lives defending the principles of the great Republic! I was thirty-seven when I was patrolling the perimeter wire at DaNang in 1965. I already had the Korean War under my belt. I am 87 now, so you see, I still care and quickly take offense at anyone, who brags about being a Vietnam War Draft dodger! I hope each one’s conscious haunts them throughout eternity!
Jackie R. Kays, SSgt. (1949-1966.)
