Well Mr. Keys, your personal email did in fact offend me. Your “poem” seemed to me to be more about the current political storm and attempts at validation against NFL players not standing during our national anthem. Consider this; as a VVA Honor Guardsman as well as any public function that present the colors, stand and I salute our flag. If you feel it is offensive by anyone else not “Standing”, then picture the overwhelming display of NFL Football fans either guzzling their last beer at tailgates, checking their cell phone for betting odds, pissing & buying more beer before kickoff. How about the cacophony of blowhard all Americans at Wild Wings, Las Vegas & so many other venues where the national anthem is nothing but military spectacle & background noise along with the big money commercials. And that, if they are even watching, let alone “Standing”. The right to protest cannot & never should be used to denounce or affirm Patriotism, otherwise we may as well be North Korea. Now that is one place you better “Stand” or not even have the option of “the next flight out”. Here’s something poetic I found profound if not somewhat contradictory when the word “character” is included.

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.
