Knife 13

Larry, I too wish the nation remembered, and cared. VSPA is doing something major about this. Currently, Agent Orange has caught up with me and I am recovering from bladder cancer surgery. Four tumors were removed, and this has admittedly been an uncomfortable last two weeks. My health issues have and are playing a part delaying further trumpeting of what these 23 men, including our fallen 18 SPs, did and were committed to.

- [ ] VSPA: Here is what is in the wings and moving to stage front: VSPA is in the advanced stages for building a memorial monument in memory of the 18 SPs and 5 Aircrewmen who gave their lives to our country.
- [ ] Soon, the fundraising campaign will accelerate. Currently, several thousand dollars have been contributed, and thousands more pledged. This is going to happen, but we still need to beat the drums for supporters and funds.
- [ ] The Air Force is very happy with VSPA’s monument design, and wants TWO of the monuments: one at Luke AFB, AZ, home of the 56th SFS, and the other at the SF Museum, Lackland JAFB, San Antonio. Land at both locations is going through the approval stages. Both bases are considering impressive background displays, such as at one a CH-53C helicopter (same as Knife 13).

These 23 men will have a memorial monument, designed and conducted by VSPA that is dramatic and will draw viewers to learn of their sacrifices; one that will last as long as there is an America.

I will, asap, post photos of VSPA’s memorial proposal for all to see— I’m sure you will see our membership brings our motto to life: We (Really Do) Take Care Of our Own.
