Larry,

These are unusual times that have, are, and may continue to impact lives of veterans in the United States. Guessing here, that you recall the Posse Comitatus Act (PCA) of 1878 once allowed LE to call on civilians to come to the rescue of law enforcement, if attacked.
Today, some are concerned about the PCA’s potential use related to the 14th Amendment (Section 1, in particular). They should not be, as in the opinion of many scholars, the 14th Amendment has nothing to do with non citizens entering this country illegally and automatically acquiring citizenship (we shall see). Historical writings are mostly of the opinion the 14th Amendment was to assure rebel states would “make no denial of citizenship rights… and the validity to the Cilvil Rights Bill of 1866.
A blizzard of Fourteenth Amendment lawsuits are already moving forward. Nothing more we say, opinion wise, will change what happens.
But it was a good question to ask, think about, and research a little.
