Subject: 49 years

Part 2: 49 years ago on this date 11-07-1967 at 0800 hrs in Beckley W Va I raised my hand and swore to defend this country with my life. Within the hour I was on a bus to Charleston and the airport there. After 2 airplane rides and another bus ride at 2200 hrs, I was at the Main gate of Amarillo AFB TX. Basic training started that very night. The next morning as we formed up to get started and a flight marched by. The first thing we heard was. " Rainbow Rainbow have you heard LBJ just past the word. You all are going to Vietnam you get to play with Viet Cong" What a way to start. Trying to march to the chow hall first and then haircuts. I would not change a thing. It made me a better person.
