So glad you had a wonderful time. You are so right about a lot of small dogs.My part chihuahua/jackrussel would snarl at the largest dogs we met while out walking so I had to give him obedience training before obedience classes-with the help of a good friend who had a big dog that Tadpole hated.Little dogs think they are as big as the dog they snarl at.Sometimes when we are out walking I still notice the side of his lip curl a bit when we meet a big dog.Our small village does not have sidewalks so in winter or in hunting season I drive to a neighboring town"only 5 minutes away" so I can walk them on the cement sidewalks for a change of pace from woods walks. The min.poodle Barney and big Brandi who is exactly like the Appenzellers we discussed earlier behave themselves. With walking three on leashes in town you need dogs that behave or your shoulders would be pulled out of joint.
So glad your dogs are coming along so nicely. It will be a while yet before we can go to the beach to swim-it's only warm enough to swim in the ocean June,July and Aug.and you said you burn driftwood..there is rarely any driftwood here to burn..people use the ornamental shaped pieces of wood for
decorations in gardens etc. Americans buy it by the carload if they can find anyone who has some or they walk the shorelines to find it when they are here.
The zoo is a few miles from here and opens up in May-I visit there very often with my grandchildren..none of the animals are in cages..fields with high fences "double rows of fencing" on the lions, tigers etc.done in such a way that you can walk around and watch them bathe in the ponds-sleep on high rocks etc. They have a petting yard"field for people to walk around with the llhamas-and any harmless to people animals.I like the Zebras and they have 2 zonkies "the donkey mated with the Zebras. They have rescued lions and tigers who were near dead in other zoos. They have many deer and reindeer-only one big black bear-he is real old and was injured when they rescued him so they kept him because they thought he couldn't fend for himself in the wild. There are no elephants because they do not survive here.Yipes I have turned this into a book-better go-see you! Thanks for sharing your fun!Tina
