  After droping Sam off for his neuter this morning I decided that since we were out and about in the country side and it was a beautiful morning that it was too nice to waste by going straight home so Daniel and I drove around exploring rural roads that we didn't know at all. We had no idea where they would take us but I figured that so long as I could orientate on the mountain range to the west we should be able to find our way home eventually. :) We drove down farm bordered roads and roads that provided lovely views right out over the countryside and still other roads that took us through the shady deepths of native NZ bush. :) It was all wonderful. Then we ended up half way back from where we had just come and we retraced our path but made a stop at Crystal Mountain to take a look around. What a cool place!!! The owner is going to give me a call about a special something that I was taken with but decided it wasn't exactly what I want - a large piece of greenstone (jade) that they cut and polish on two sides (and sometimes a little on the top too if it's flatish) and leave as raw rock on the other two sides. They cut a flat base so that it can be stood up to be admired. He has a few out back to do and when they are ready I will get first pick of them. :) Daniel had fun too and bought home some new "treasures". Then we got some lunch and called into a garden centre to pick up a couple of plants and some seeds.
  
  It was just a really fun, easy going, pleasant morning that I thought I'd share and before I know it I'll be back out the door to collect Sam. I can't wait to get the big guy home safe and sound.

  This is not the fisrt time someone has said this to me, and it just happened and I am so annoyed..... this stupid lady who I see out walking the dogs asked me
  " are you pregnant " ? god how STUPID she must have felt when I said "NO" I had back surgery and have gained 5 pounds even though I havn't, I just said that so she would not feel like a donkey.... If I suspected someone was pregnant, but wasn't sure, I would never ask that... this women is a DONKEY!!

  this new board. Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. I have met some of you from other boxer related boards that Diane has invited me to as well. Some of you have come to see us over at "The Backyard" even! Anyway, my real name is Jennifer or Jen, for short. I am 32, a stay at home mom to a 4 year old son and 10 month old baby girl. We are owned by four boxers~Boomer-10 years old, fawn male....~Buster-6 year old brindle male....Faile-2 year old fawn female and...Blake, 15 week old fawn male. • Fresh Homeade Pasta -- Kat, 15:31:10 07/22/01 Sun (24.45.229.222)
  A little while back Diane mentioned being interested in some fresh pasta recipes. Well I finally found the book that goes with my pasta machine - what can I say except that when hubby puts something away, he really puts it away!!!!! Here goes.
  
  Basic Pasta
  1 egg
  1/2 tsp salt
  1 tbls olive oil
  Add enough water to this mixture to make 1/2 cup [125 ml] total liquid
  
  Pour into either pasta maker or food processor. Measure out 1 2/3 cups flour [375 ml] [semolina gives the best textured pasta]. Add the first cup all at once. Then pulsing/mixing add remainder of flour until mixture resembles small pea sized lumps
  
  Now either extrude pasta or pour onto lightly greased bowl -shape pasta dough into a ball with hands. Roll out onto lightly floured surface and cut into strips [or run through manual pasta machine].
  
  Cook fresh pasta in at least 6 quarts boiling water. Fresh pasta cooks in only 1-2 minutes. You want the pasta to be 'al dente', firm and chewy. Drain immediately but do not rinse unless you are going to use later - such as in a cold pasta salad. Serve immediately with sauce of your choice.
  
  You can use just about any type juice you want to in place of water to make flavored pastas. Because juice tends to be thicker you may need to use more juice.
  
  Fresh pasta can be frozen or refrigerated for a few days. After cutting pasta lightly coat with corn starch and let air dry until a "skin" forms on the pasta. Then chill until ready to use.

  For anyone who wants to fill in a quite hour (or few minutes) check out this site A Country Garden I'm going back there as soon as I get a few things done here.   You wake up in the morning and think "What a beautiful day!). You make a few plans as to how you intend to proceed, get out of bed (extract yourself from under the pile of Boxers that is ;) open windows, doors etc, switch on computer, boil jug (or make coffee) and come back to dial up your connection in passing through to do whatever else is next in your routine. Then you wander back to sit down and catch up and.... no dial up. :( So you try again... and again........ and AGAIN!! By this time you're convinced that it's your computer that is sick and you spend nearly the rest of the day trying to fix its mysterious inner workings only to discover many (MANY) hours later that your server was down and it was not a fault at your end at all! Which is good (I guess) but by now it's cold, raining and getting dark outside and you need to go make food for the crew and you've accomplished exactly zilch with your entire day.
  
  Tell me I'm not alone in this kind of day (and did I mention the feeling of desperation that goes hand in hand with computer withdrawel? Shudder... it's the pits!).

  I haven't know you for long, but during this time I have seen you give
  advice and support to others, including myself, which has help me to
  cope.
  
  You get a problem, and what do you do, you keep it to yourself. We all
  need to give help and advice as well as recieve it. You have many friends
  who are willing to help and support, but you shut us out, why? How can
  we help if you do this.
  
  NEVER do this again, you are too prescious to us, and we are there for
  you just as you have been there for us.
  
  Even just reading others thoughts on the subject, helps to clear you mind
  and helps you cope. Someone may come up with the answer, or if not,
  puts a thought in your mind which help resolve the problem.
  
  A proble shared is a problem halved, remember that.
  
  I hope that you find an answer soon, but if not, banging youself against a
  brick wall wonlt help.

  if there is a meaning to dreaming about any of these things?
  
  Cliffs! I kept dreaming that I was moving along but ending in a place with a steep drop off. I had several versions of that dream. I'm positive that sounds like a bad thing - someone please tell me this is a "good" and positive thing to dream of. (That one was last week BTW).
  
  I was dreaming about furniture a few nights ago - a couch like a cane one or one of those chaise lounge thingies maybe.... hmmmm... maybe that's only because the dogs have "killed" the one I have right now and I do need to replace it. LOL!!
  
  I had a wonderful dream, very vivid, all about my Jessy girl about two nights ago. She kept pulling on the lead and tangling me in it but then I discovered that she was also wearing a harness so I tried that and she walked beautifully. I also had a sense that many of the folks from here where there with us and that I was showing her off. I think that dream was kind of wistful - as in ...if I had known then what I do now things would have gone a lot more smoothly for her and I a lot earlier in her life. Maybe she's happy that I'm finally learning and that was her way of letting me know. I don't recall ever having had such a strong dream about her before.
  
  Ok... just rambling I guess but if anyone knows I would like to find out if cliffs are significant. Anyone else ever dream really vividly and wonder about it?

  ..maybe it's time to ask for suggestions and some understanding. I have an aunt who is terminal with cancer that has spread to her liver. I barely (very barely) know this lady but I've always felt that we had a lot in common and thought that it would be fun to get to know her one day (nearly did a couple of years ago but I didn't have her contact details and my mother and I had had a falling out at the time). Her illness has come on suddenly and she is now in hospital after a week or two of home care by another aunt. Her horses have always been her life and her will dictated that they were to go to a sort of retirement home for horses and her (not insignificant I believe) estate was to be left to this place. My understanding is that this has been her standing will for many years (she has no children and her husband passed away many years ago). Suddenly, as of last week, she has a new will - everything goes to the aunt who was staying with her for those couple of weeks and her horses (who are not elderly) are to be shot upon her death. I am devastated and disgusted by what appears to me to be some serious manipulation and greed at work. I have spent the last few days trying to come up with a workable solution to this that will ensure that the horses will not be shot. I am positive that her fears of theses two animals (plus two cats) not being looked after as well as she has always looked after her horses in particular (they even had a special window to visit with her in the kitchen) have been played on. I would take them (and I asked Andrew too) but we simply can't afford it. It wouldn't take her entire estate to ensure that theses animals could live out their lives in peace and happiness in good and loving care and I just can't believe the greed and heartlessness of the person (people) who have caused this situation to come about. I keep seeing the deed being done in my head.... lots of tears down here and frustration too. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions at all? My sister feels exactly the same way as I do and would take them too but right at this time finances just won't allow it for her either.

  After dinner last night (still light outside) I took Mack for his walk. We went out to the Jr. College where we often go. As I parked the car by the baseball field I saw an older lady with a small suitcase, a backpack and a bottle of water, talking to the campus security guard. The lady didn't exactly look homless, but she was a little disheveled and looked like she had been outdoors a great deal. She also looked worried.
  Mack and I began our walk and when we were over by the buildings we ran into the guard who was checking doors. I asked her if she was the one talking to the lady down by the field and asked if the lady was all right - she was definitely "out of place" where she was. The guard said the lady needed to get to a town about 30 miles south of here where she had a place to stay and left it at that.
  I couldn't stop thinking about her and that "there, but for the grace of God, go I" and my first inclination was to see what I could do. But, sadly, my second inclination was that she could be dangerous in some way.
  We finished our walk and when I got back in the car, she was still there - sitting on her little red suitcase and looking out at the road (she was not in a place anywhere near to where she could get a ride.) I don't have a cell phone, so couldn't even offer to make a call for her.
  On the drive home I decided to get my husband and come back - we could certainly afford the time and the gas to take her to where she had a place to stay. The Big Guy said, "No, we're not going to do that" and I said "Yes we are - c'mon, let's just go talk to her........" So, of course I won because I told him I would go back without him!
  Anyway, when we got back......she was gone. I have no idea where she went.
  When I was a child, in the small town I lived in - my Mother would have given this old lady a ride without thinking twice about it. I just hate it that we have to be so afraid of strangers nowadays and can't act on kind instincts without weighing the negatives.

  The fun my parents (Dad, really) had at our expense. Dad always had a wacky sense of humor. One thing in particular stands out in my mind. We had been watching something about UFO's on TV and Dad said he had heard that there was supposed to be a sighting that night. He had obviously done some research on how to attract spacemen to your house. He tuned the radio to the far end of the dial and told us the beeps were from the UFO communicating to people on Earth. It was SO cool!! He sent us upstairs to prepare for the ritual calling of the spaceman - the preparations must be done secretly or the spaceman wouldn't come you know. Being kids, we couldn't stand it. My brother sent me downstairs with the excuse of having to use the bathroom so I could see what Dad was doing. Dad was holding two plates over some candles. Hmmm. No clue there for a six year old. Finally he called us down. He said that we must turn off all the lights in the house and wear a blindfold if we wanted the spaceman to come to our house. He handed us two round objects and told us to rub the bottom then rub our cheeks, forheads, noses, etc. While doing this we were to chant "Oh Mr. Spaceman. Oh Mr. Spaceman. Come to our house. Oh Mr. Spaceman." We, of course, were quite solemn about the whole thing. Making sure we rubbed every single part of our face and chanting Oh Mr. Spaceman in a sing-song voice. I have to mention that Dad and Mom participated in this as well. I'm sure you've all figured out what we saw when the lights came back on. Mom and Dad dissolved in laughter and Mel and I covered with soot from the candles. Oh how naive we were, but it was fun and still makes me smile.

  Pulling a Diane ;) and checking in quick. Between camping and Nedra's spay, and weddings (we are at that time iin our lives where there is one EVERY weekend), cookouts, and holidays I just dont have time to breathe. WHEW!
  
  Nedra's spay went wonderfully, we went and visited her tonight and she looked great. We will be allowed to pick her up tomorrow, but she was more than ready to come home tonight, she looked so sad that she had to go back with the vet assistant! My sweet girl. She was so excited to see me she peed all over the floor. Poor baby!
  
  Camping went OK. I am NOT a camper! I hate being dirty. We did get to go horseback riding and I was actually fairly impressed with the facility. The horses were suprisingly responsive for trail horses and my horse actually handled BETTER than my English school horse! (Much better temperament too, but that wasn't hard to do - my school horse was a b*tch! LOL She used to try to rub me off on trees, take off with me, tried to buck me off a few times, ahhh the memories!) Chad's horse on the other hand TOTALLY knew Chad was and inexperienced rider and took full advantage of it as horses will. The ride was a 2.5 hour ride through the Appalacian Mts. and there were a few times I was actually worried for him. Once his horse took off down a fairly steep grade with him and got about halfway down it before Chad reined him in. His horse got out of line, and if you have ever been on a trail ride you know that horses have a certain pecking order. There is a certain order that they have to stay in or they start nipping, bucking and kicking at each other. Well Chad's horse decides to pass another horse and Chad let him even though I told him not to. So for the latter part of the trip, Chad's horse is threatening to bolt again. Chad is wondering why until I turn around and catch the horse behind him nipping him on the flanks. WITH THE RIDER WATCHING THE WHOLE THING! Grrrr! I told him to move back into order and he finally did. *sigh* Chad LOVED white water rafting and we will probably be going back again next year, only next year we will be renting a Chalet.

  I just think this is so neat and strange and unusual.
  Where I live in California, we have grey tree squirrels, gophers and moles and trillions of ground squirrels.....but we *don't* have Prarie Dogs. Now some of you may see Prarie Dogs as often as we see ground squirrels (they are a pest - all over the place) but when you're driving down a nearby residential street........and you see a pet Prarie Dog living in the middle of a lawn - you stop and STARE!
  
  This fat little guy has fascinated us for weeks now. There is a hole in the middle of the lawn with a slice of tree over part of it and this little guy just stands around the hole peering all around him. I have seen teenagers coming out of the house and stop to pet him. He comes close, flattens his body down and sticks his head up to get scratched. He is *so* cute! I am quite sure he is a pet and they keep him fed. But they are illegal to keep in California and this little guy is out there all the time on a corner un-fenced lot for everyone to see. I can't believe a dog or cat hasn't gotten him (probably too big for a cat to take on, though.)
  This would be like one of you in Indiana or Ohio or Colorado seeing a Sea Otter floating around on one of your lakes, cracking an Abalone shell on a rock on his stomach! (Something that we see everyday on our nearby coast.)
  Anyway, I am just enthralled with this cute little guy and I hope Fish and Game doesn't come along and snatch him (and probably put him to sleep.) It looks like he would make as good a pet as any guinea pig or chinchilla or bunny (probably better) and I want them to take him in the house!

I'm busy reading and want to do some concocting a little later today (plus I'm nursing a hubby who came home early with a head cold yesterday - why does he keep asking me what I'm up to out in the kitchen and WHAT exactly did I put in his tea, LOL,..... mind you he no longer bothers to ask what herbal tablets I'm giving him these days *VBG*). There are loads of goodies in my new books that I'm looking forward to sharing - some on here and some over on AAB that are animal specific. I'll try to get on tonight but I've been really tired in the evenings for the past week or so and don't want to get run down and catch Andrew's cold if I can avoid it.   I forgot what the vet said yesterday. I called him this morning to tell him Zoey had 100.7, and he said that was normal. Hate to keep calling back. Besides you guys are better and smarter than any vet out there! BTW, she is on so many meds. I hate that! She is on Keflex 2x a day, prednisone (certain regimine) and Atarax 2 x a day. She also takes Reglan 15-30 mins before meals. I have to put a cream on her paws 2x a day, same one she used for her ears when she had this before(thanks, Marlene). I think I will put my nurses uniform on! Thanks to everyone for their good wishes!

  Now tell me...what is the darned stupidist fun thing you did when you were a kid? Here is one of mine : )
  
  We lived in this small little hick town (not even a traffic light) and the kids in the neighborhood had to think up their own source of entertainment. To our good fortune Carstettor Creek ran through the back of our acre lot (I didn't know it back then but so did half the sewers in Delaware *sigh*). Even better, the man across the street ran a junk yard and he had seven kids! Now this creek was flat bedrock and fairly narrow. We had frequent flash floods on this little tributary and the kids in the neighborhood lived for the moment : ) all to the total ignorance of our parents. It was the late sixties and life was good, you know? Well one day providence would have it we had one of those sudden summer downpours and Carstettor started rising. Those fine children across the street supplied us all with near empty gas tanks (I know), and we proceeded to use these as flotation devices and ride them down the flood waters. Most of the kids were older and bigger. So guess who gets on a floating gas tank and can't get out of the creek? (Maybe that is how they coined the phrase "up a creek without a paddle") So now the adventure got really interesting because my lovely older brothers (remember them M.C.?) could race up the creek ahead screaming their heads off concerning my lack of intelligence, all the while I'm deciding little "Em" is about to die! Eventually one of the bigger boys managed to fish me out before Carstettor ran into Laughery, which runs into the Ohio river! And you all wonder why I chucked rocks at them mean old boys...

  I am doing better. my back is improving, it seems like a slow process though. I feel best in the a.m. and worst at night. I started PT and I am loving it. I am working out in there gym and I am just loving it. we are going very slow and the weights are light. my therapist said that it would be great if I could work out 3 times a week, it is great for your back and can really strengthen it. I am going to go for it and start looking into it. I used to work out a lot and was 50 pounds thinner. maybe I could loose the weight again. anyone work out????

  Did you catch that? LOL - yep... I have loads of lemons right now :) first time for this tree and I'm very happy about it. It just so happens that I also have a lemon merangue (I know that's wrong but you guys know what I mean right?) pie loving husband and a son who wants to make homemade lemonaid. Help!!! I've never been overly succesful with the pie and what's the best way to make the lemonaid - anyone? And while I'm asking for them I might as well ask for me - anyone got a wonderful method of making lemon chicken? I gave it a try last week and it was nice enough but I feel it could be improved on.
  
  If all else fails I guess I'll be using them instead of tomatos for a bit ;-) ....SPLAT!!! Hee, hee.

  ...iris swap. The following list which I post next to save space on the new page is what I have. Take note that not all have an increase this year as I'm just starting out. But I'd be willing to swap some single rhizomes of some that I've had good increase, for other Tall Bearded or Siberian iris that are named. Meaning you know the registered name of the hybrid, & hopefully its height, color, and bloom time. I'm somewhat limited this year, but next I should really be cooking with 125 cultivars in the ground. I'm building stock for a future commercial iris garden so I must stress the identity of plants (in good health) must be known! : )

  Also (in case anyone missed it) I have copied all our recipes to date into a file (I even managed to find the one Lisa posted way back :) so if you want it (the file) please just say so and I'll wing it on its way out to you. I'll attempt to keep it up to date so if you miss something and you want a copy ask and I'll attempt to find it for you. The same thing applies to handy household type tips - this kind of info is the stuff you might want a month or two from now only to find it's vanished off the board. So barring my computer throwing a major hissy fit (which is simply not allowed!! LOL) I should have it. :)
  
  Last thing. It appears that Voyforums has been having some trouble, I guess they got pretty swamped when ITW message boards shut down. I notice that the board was down yesterday (as was Jackes) but I must have done something right because it all reappeared like magic *grin* but it has prompted me to make the recipe copies (something I'd been procrastinating about doing) and also to discover that there is a backup setting in the inner works of their boards (I'm not a very organized type usually but I can be when pushed into it ;) so I'll try to remember to backup the board most nights and, hopefully, we won't lose any messages. :) Fingers crossed that is (which is going to make it difficult to type but I'm sure I'll manage, LOL).

  I have met several people (a few close relatives, friends) that attest and swear to seeing or having had ghostly experiences. So I'd like to propose a question or two, or three.
  
  Do believe, or not believe?
  
  Support your theory of what you think a ghost is (ie. an echo of energy from a past event, an actual spiritual apparition of some who has passed on, a psychotic delusion in a human mind, etc.)?
  
  And if they are "real" why don't we all see them?
  
  Should I have saved this for Halloween?

  Okay, let me start from the beginning.
  
  Basically there is one rule of thumb when choosing your ISP that most people don't know about. That rule is: Your ISP is only as good as their ISP. Stinks, yes?
  
  What this means is:
  There are only TWO companies in Ohio (why Ohio? because I live here and that is all I know...) that actually create their connection. Those companies are UUnet and Sprint. These are known as Tier 1 internet service providers (because they create their connection and have a redundant backbone.)
  
  Unless you recieve your connection (in Ohio, that is) from either of those companies, you are possibly pulling from a company that gets their connection from a company gets their connection from a company that gets their connection from UUnet. Which makes your company a Teir 4 provider.
  
  What does this mean for you, the end user?
  This means that your "high speed" internet connection is leaving your house (say, when youre trying to pull up a website), going through company one, to get to company two, then from company two to get to company three, going from company three to get to UUnet, then when it gets to UUnet it leaves and goes through all of the companies that the website provider uses (may be up to 5 or more), and then through all those steps all over again in reverse order to transfer the website information back to your PC. By the time you see a web page, your connection has lagged so much that you are sitting on the other end of your PC recieving 56K modem speeds off of your $40 a month DSL or Cable modem (if you are on 56K you would be pulling NO MORE than 1K a second). *snoring loudly*
  
  The thing that is sad to me is that even though the scenario I gave is normal and the way MOST internet companies run, the company can *still* turn aaround and say "We have a T1! We have HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS!" What does this mean to you?? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, because I have been in situations like the scenario I illustrated above, and recieved 56K modem speeds ON A T1 because of all of the "hands" my connection had to pass through before it got to it's destination and back.
  
  Also, most companies, when asked if they are a Teir 1, Teir 2, Teir 3, etc. ISP, will dance around the issue and say, "It depends on what you mean by Teir 1." (Yes I have had that response before, grrrr. WHAT DO YOU THINK I MEAN?! LOL!)
  
  How to make this work for you:
  Most of us work for a company that has a network admiinistrator, right?? ASK THEM. Ask them to "ping" your prospective ISP. What this means, is your network admin will "ping" your prospective ISP using a software that will return a report on exactly how many "hands" your connection had to pass through in order to get to its final destination complete with reports on the amounts of time in miliseconds it took at each stop.
  
  If your network admin doesn't have the software, if you don't have a NA, or if you want to try to ping them yourself, let me know and I will try to get the name of the software for you. (I cannot use it because I use Macintosh and they dont make the software for the Mac, I had to have my network admin ping my ISP from his PC.)

  I ended up buying Pink Rosemary - for love and remembrance. It was even better because the little card with maintenance tips that came with the plant had the meaning written on it. Ross was absolutely thrilled that I did that for him and for his dad so I've got some big time brownie points there (not that that was my aim though). The plant looks great, smells divine and I joked that if his dad got hungry, he could eat it! However, I did make a small mistake, I thought the anniversary of his dad's death was today, but it's the July 13, not July 3. Oh well, earlier is better I say. Thanks everyone for your ideas.

  I was thinking about Jessica living in an apartment and wondering if anyone has any good suggestion for container type gardens that would do alright indoors and bring a little bit of what is nice about having a garden with them? Scented plants are nice to include I think and things that hold your interest even when they're not flowering, or things that have an extended flowering time or will just burst back after a quick prune. Non-toxic of course ... got to consider Nedra's safety too. Which leads me to this question - does anyone who has a dog that is primarily an inside dog grow a pot of grasses for them? I've often thought this would be an excellent idea.

  ...and I'm one very tired woman today so if I seem off at all in my answers etc please forgive me in advance.
  
  I was sitting here having my late night "me" time and thinking about signing off and heading for bed when I heard a strange noise. Not really loud (surprisingly - as it turned out) just odd. Now, we live on a busy road and our house is just beyond a deceptive little bend that many people take too fast and over the years there have been several accidents there. Last year some work was done that has helped a little and the number of cars taking out the crash barrier down there have decreased. However last night there was a mishap except this time the car didn't end up down the road - it ended up a few meters from where I now sit.... in my neighbours front yard! It took out our letter box on the way, skidded across the top of our driveway and carried on to wipe out a couple of small trees (one of which I asked our neighbour to move as they grow huge, drop stuff everywhere and crack cement with their roots so on that score I'm happy) and came to rest about 30ft from where I now sit. :( At the time I was more concerned about the occupents (two young guys, not drunk but I do think they were going too fast) luckily there were no injuries but they did get out and leave the car running so I'm shouting at them to "Turn it off RIGHT NOW". Can you just imagine? Shudder!! Then I called a tow service for them - they didn't want to know unless these guys could pay on the spot and they didn't have enough cash on them. So one of them calls his Mum (wonderful creatures these Mothers ;) so she and hubby turn up, the tow truck sees fit to turn up... we have flashing lights and general mayhem in the wee small hours of a very chilly winters night down here and..... the neighbours continue to sleep throough the entire thing!!! By this time Andrew is up and wandering around in his dressing gown (robe) as I repeatedly tell him to go get dressed!! At the last minute the police turn up so the entire thing becomes even more prolonged and we end up getting to bed at sometime around (or after) 3am in the morning. Freezing cold and worn out. This morning I wake up to the sobbering thought that their car could have easily ended up in our lounge instead of where it did and the dogs and I could all be dead or injured right now. For the first time in over twelve years I'm not sure I feel safe in my own home. :( The only thing that makes me feel better is that it appears that they had installed some new struts in the car earlier that day and that is most likely what caused the problem so it was a one off, freak thing. But right now I'm tired and feeling strung out with the events of last night.
  
  So that was my evening. How was yours? Better I hope! :) Today's a whole new day, and a beautiful one. I'll be grateful for that and attempt not to give way to paranoia over random events I think!
