It really is true about your metabolism......it changes. The weight sneaks up so easily and is so much harder to take off.
Exercise is really important, especially for women. I think if we try to do it completely with diet, we have to nearly starve - and that's not good for any part of your body or your psyche!
I was at a place many years ago where I needed to lose 50lbs - and that is a lot on a 5'1" frame. I did join a gym, but that was before aerobics and it was mostly machines and calesthetics. I lost about 40 lbs that way, but I was really starving myself and when I tried to start eating reasonable meals, I started gaining right away. That is when I took up running and weight training - *SO* much more effective than just dieting. AND I could eat reasonably!
I could go on and on.....but here are some tips that worked for me:
Eat more often - a snack instead of a meal (but make it good stuff, not junk) cheese is FAT and should be eaten in moderation, but for some reason it stays in your stomach and bloodstream a long time and keeps the pangs down.
I ate a lot of Grape Nuts :-( You know how you are starving and you try to do the right thing, carrots, celery, apples.....and it just doesn't work?! You *still* have that gnawing hunger that is going to rebound and send you running for bread and butter, cookies or chocolate. Well, for me...Grape Nuts didn't taste all that wonderful going down but it assuaged the deep hunger. It is also wonderful "bulk" and will keep your system cleaned out. I ate it at night instead of dessert, while watching TV. Waking up hungry in the middle of the night is a big problem for me.

Meat is loaded with calories and I lived mainly on chicken breasts, a salad and veggies for dinner. If I was making spaghetti, chili or stew for the family - I threw a frozen breast in there and my "dinner" tasted a little like what everyone else was eating.
When you've just had it..........have the "poison" of your choice and let it go. One Snickers bar is good for your mental state when you're ready to eat the whole kitchen.

OK Marlene.....go practice some of your own tips!
"NO! I have decided I am just fine, love me or look the other way. I give......."
