Whipped cream comes in the aerosol type can and cool whip is in a tub and you spoon it out. I seem to recall that whipped cream has more of something in it, but don't know what. I like the cool whip because when it's frozen it looks very similar to ice cream and she's satisfied with it. The whipped cream I use in parfait type desserts.
