I just had to tell you we had the almost the same thing happen to us, except that we had already sold our old house and the new owners were expecting to move in. We had cleared all the hoops for loan approval to purchase our new home when suddenly the mortgage company decided they had to have another $5,000 from us.
Our broker felt so bad for us that he lent us the money. I don't know what would have happened to us if he didn't. After the sale closed, I was able to go and borrow the money against our jeep and pay our broker back, but it was a very tense time for us.
