Thanks for the info. This is my "new thing to learn" for today! I figured that kilts were for special occasions. The different plaids (Tartans?) are absolutely gorgeous. Because I sew, I appreciate beautiful fabric and the work that goes into both the weaving and also the sewing. Pet peeve of mine is when plaids don't match at the seam!

I am not sure if the football you are referring to is what we in the States call football or what we call Rugby? Frankly I hate watching our version of football. If I want a nap on Sunday afternoon or Monday night (during Monday Night Football) all I have to do is sit in my recliner during a game and it usually only takes five minutes or so to put me to sleep. Must have something to do with how the announcers keep on yapping about the game--most of them sound like idiots. We used to have one announcer, by the name of Howard Cosell, who was at least funny and made you think about what he said. He died a number of years ago and the naps started soon after.

Now about Rugby--that is a lot more fun to watch. Short shorts are more fun to look at than the football uniforms, helmets, and padding that our players here wear! I chaperoned our band on a trip to Colorado a couple of years ago--just so happened that a Rugby tournament was being held there. One of the teams from the UK (Wales I think) stayed at our hotel. These guys were gorgeous, well built (nice uniforms with the short shorts) and had our teenage girls walking around with their tongues "dragging on the floor." No sleep for the chaperones those 2 nights! (Fun for us "old" ladies to watch as well!)
