I comletely agree cvl that the show means different things to different people and that's what's good about it. If it only worked on one level it never would have become the phenomenon that it did.

The only thing I resent is people who assume that if you love the Mulder and Scully relationship you are only into it for the romance. They are just great characters, simple as that.

I think Doggett is a good character but I don't know if he was developed properly. Also Mulder was not given a proper send off. There should have been so much more focus on his abduction experience and more dealing with he and Scully's reaction to the pregnancy. Here we had this character who had thought about nothing but aliens for the better part of his life and it was the main storyline of the seriesad then when he finally is abducted and experiences things first hand, he returns only to be pushed in the background. And unfortunately Dogget got the blame for it.

Too much attention was focused on promoting him and some fans resented it. I agree that he wasn't given a fair chance by some but it's never a good idea to sacrifice a favorite character while trying to build up another. When the publicity campaign started displaying Doggett as the new lead guy it alienated a lot of people immediately. I don't think CC went about this in the right way. I was looking forward to season 8 being Scully's year. I know GA wanted more time off so that caused a conflict but why wasn't Skinner brought to the forefront? People like to see characters they have known for years. Not have someone brand new dominate the action. Doggett should have been introduced more subtely. Perhaps in the same way we met Krycek but without the bad guy element. Just stick him in there and slowly have him grow into the role.

Det :-)
