whispers to herself. "But did it end in a bloodbath?" she queries the room at large, and conversation winds down to a breathless hush. "No, no it did NOT!" She says this with a flourish and leaps down from the bar, narrowly missing the Mayor's little toe.

"It wasn't supposed to end in a bloodbath, you dweeb," Stardoe defends her fireworks display hotly.

"It would if I'd done it," KS informs her with her nose in the air.

"Well, thank God it didn't!" Kande grabs her sis by the elbow and quickly propels her into the kitchen. "Are you trying to get yourself arrested? New Year's eve hasn't even started yet! You've not even started on your allotment of spiked rootbeer."

"I'm the designated driver," KS sneers. Kande's eyes widen and she holds her head. How could this have happened?

Kande leaves her sis inspecting the kitchen knives and stalks back into the bar. "Did you all know my sister is the designated driver this year?"

All gathered gasp. KS is a maniac, old lady driver. No one would willingly ride with her, unless they were drunk out of their gourds, which they'd all planned to be. Klub patrons all over start spitting out their spiked drinks. Bubba is kept busy gathering up all the spittle to reuse later.

"Enough!" the Mayor clambers nimbly up on the bar, despite her form-fitting sequined dress and stilleto heels. "We'll assign someone else the chore of designated driver. And we'll trick KS into thinking she's driving a carload."

"How will we do that? She's so dang paranoid," Rabid says suspiciously.

"She'll drive around a carload of sock people. Kande, get busy!"
