"Ooo...suck up points!" thinks Kenamom. Out loud: "Nice t-shirt. Is that how you normally dress for business meetings?"

Kande looks down at her t-shirt, shorts, and non-Dr. Martens sandals. "Every chance I get."

"It has been brought to my attention that you have had Bubba fill in for you at your office job." Kenamom looks at kande over her half-glasses. "That, as you are well aware, is subject to a hefty fine."

"But I can explain!" whines kande. She's about to go into how taking her kitten to get dipped ended with Bubba working on a government contract that requires all contractors to be US citizens when she sees the curtain move. She strides over and pulls the curtain back. "Aha!"

KS sneezes. "Geez, mayor, do you ever dust in here?"

"Just what's going on here?" demands kande. "Anytime you two get together, there's bound to be trouble afoot."

Just then, the door swings open and Stardoe enters, holding a copy of the most recent Noromo Gazette.

"This is what's going on here!" She rubs the paper on kande's nose, leaving a smudge of newsprint on the tip. "Explain, please."

Kande sighs. "Look. Like I already told you, the reporter was just quoting a source. The *Gazette* isn't saying that you don't uphold law and order. There's just this deranged group of kooks who think Detoured is the greatest thing since sliced bread." She turns to the mayor. "One thing we left out of the story is that this same group is buying up conventional weapons from defunct wacko fringe militia groups. I think they may be planning a coup."

Kenamom's jaw is hanging open. "WHAT?"

"Yep. A coup. Since this seemed out of character, we didn't print it, but I do have a reporter working 24/7 on the story. You won't believe who's the head of this group."
