OR maybe it should phrased as - How can we be sure what we have really is a clue? Since so many things are often contradicted later by other "facts"/"clues". All this contradictory stuff just seems like a bunch of noise, instead of useful sounds. Maybe Elvis Presley didn't recognize a musical trend from his perspective. Others would probably say there was a musical trend. For the most part, parents (in the late 1950s and early 1960s) hoped rock 'n' roll would fade as a fad. Those parents probably would have said Elvis doesn't/didn't have a clue. I don't understand this statement - Would Elvis have said this? "Yes, sir, that's right."
