Most of her ranting slide right over him, he was used to being screamed at. He'd never been any good with women since his wife had been killed, though it wasn't through lack of trying in the last few years. But when she calls him a dumb hick his jaw tightens noticably and his eyes go from confused to hard and void of any emotion. "Would you rather I'd left you to be raped and likely killed?! God knows you wern't going back to your brothers place and since Sha asked me to keep you safe, you should be yelling at her. I just do what I'm told" His voice was raised and deepened just enough to be sure it got through the haze of anger that she was seeing. His drawl was compleatly gone, his words hard. He was used to taking the verbal abuse, but there where still a few things that stung. His drawl had nothing to do with his heratige, it was the fact that he'd droped out of school at 14 and gotten most of his education through living. He normaly hid it well, few knew it was even there, but she'd caught him so off guard... He wanted to hit himself for slipping.
