See MidAmerica board. This is BS for all of the other military families that never even received one along with all others who had parents who moved. This isn’t just leaving a local studio for another one.
Rules should be the same for all not one dancer going from Southern to MidAmerica!

I thought worlds judges are not posted before the last qualifier takes place. Could leave a perception of cheating/favors to know them ahead. And yes I did see them posted some time ago on the overseas board so maybe they have just given up since it was leaked anyway. What would be good to know is who is judging AI since entries open on Tuesday!

- Grades to PC… Teacher Discretion?? -- Irish Dance Mom, 06:15:27 11/01/25 Sat
I am relatively new to Irish Dance, and have a question regarding moving up. We are located in the Mid America region. If a teacher has the handbook that outlines their rules on how many firsts a dancer needs in prize winner to PC, can they change it for some and not others? Or can they hold someone back even though they qualify for PC? Someone said this was against a CLRG rule

Feeling pressure to go but it seems like it’s only a Feis, you don’t have to qualify other than be Canadian and from what I see it is not a qualifier for Worlds or Nans. Timing is not great for us for end of January with school and winter weather would mean driving is not an option. DD is having FOMO. - Yes, just a feis. I'd guess they're trying to build off the 2021 Canadian Nationals, which was a great success, but was a qualifier. However with this just being fancy feis, I wonder if the numbers will be there. We won't be flying from ECR to Calgary in the winter for a non-qualifier two weeks before leaving for All Irelands. - Terrible timing, no qualification opportunity, and restricted entries. However, you just know teachers across Canada will send anyone with two legs to pad their entry numbers and to bring in the workshop money. (NT) -- Money spinner, 09:11:13 10/12/25 Sun

- Costume rules/globes -- -, 15:22:30 09/25/25 Thu
I have seen posts saying round green and blue patches being used to cover globes are NOT globes, so are within the rules. I just wanted to say that the rule is not about globes alone. Replacing a globe with a new round patch in green and blue and everyone using them to cover globes, is still an identifier. The rule bans identifiers NOT globes alone.
The only way to stop it is to make it so that each patch must be individual to that dress, no 2 dancers should have the same patch cover up. Yes a cheat could then tell another cheat that their dancer has a butterfly or an apple etc, but there's only so many individual patches that a cheating AD could remember.
This is the wording of the rule from CLRG rules page...
"Solo costumes (including headwear) worn in championship competitions must not include any “Identifying Designs”. Dancers breaching this rule must be instructed to either amend or replace the costume in order to appear on stage to compete. Dancers who are unable to amend or replace the costume may still participate but will not be scored. Effective 01 September 2025"
All globes being covered by the same patch, is an idenitfier of a covered globe end of story, so might as well just allow the globes and be done with it.

- Inspirational stories of dancing advancement -- Marie, 14:22:34 08/25/25 Mon
Just curious if anyone has any inspirational real life stories of dancers who did mini feis at oriechtas (we are in middle America but can be from anywhere) and didn't recall but then vastly vastly improved and naidc qualified the following year. My dancer started at 8 and compared to her peers she started way late! But she has gotten stronger and better every year. She has put in the work and goes to tons of extra dance classes, etc since last years and want to give her stories of other girls who worked hard and showed vast improvement in places from one year to the next, and what they did to get there!

- Help your dancer be patient and not compare to others, only to themselves. Set her own goals - both reasonable and outlandish - and keep going. (Your dancer didn't start late. My dancer was 12 when she started, and accomplished all her goals by the end of her competitive time. Your dancer has plenty of time. Enjoy the journey.) (NT) -- old timer, 08:48:25 08/28/25 Thu
- All depends on your teacher. Do the majority of the dancers at your school recall? If not, I'm not sure why parents would expect anything different for their dancer. It's very easy to identify the good schools from mediocre using results. (NT) -- It can be done with right TC, 17:41:14 09/01/25 Mon

My daughter has recently developed a bald spot on the crown of her head which I’m worried is from wearing a bob wig. Does anyone have any experience of this with their dancer and how you managed wig styling whilst patiently waiting for the hair to grow back?

- Please protect dancers future health! -- Worried, 21:25:54 08/11/25 Mon
You posted a photo of your Dancers in orderly rows feet crossed and turned out.
What I don’t think you noticed is that their fifth positions were so unnaturally overdone that their knees and toes don’t line up- this torque on their knees will give them chronic knee issues.
This is also forcing collapsed arches in those hard shoes.
Those backs are in a state of hyperlordosis- ouch!
I know they’re disposable to you as you tend to kick them out at about 21… but this is heartbreaking to watch.
Judges- for the love stop rewarding damaging incorrect technique.

- Fayes heavy shoes tearing my dancers ankles -- how to fix?, 08:31:49 08/11/25 Mon
We bought a new pair of Fayes hardshoes a few months before NAIDC 25. The fit of them is great and the point is beautiful, but my dd says the heels are so painful she can hardly dance in them. My dd did trad set and the shoes looked great but she said they were too painful to try to wear for solos. They look so beautiful and much better than our old brand, but the heels are so stiff and cause such bad blisters. Any advice on how to fix/alleviate this so she can wear them for the O in the fall?

Why are the action shots this year so consistently bad? A large portion of them are out of focus, and from the competitions I’ve looked through the rest of the pictures aren’t of jumps, kicks, or anything that could’ve made a good picture. I feel like it’s really not that hard???

- Adults -- Fuming, 20:17:26 07/08/25 Tue
I am aware that adult Irish Dancers have become a norm in ID- fine. However, I cannot defend the ladies and gents who cannot even physically LIFT an inch off of the ground. If the adults are going to want to dance solo at a national competition, which is considered prestigious in the Irish dancing world, they truly need to be treated like every single other dancer who dedicates so much of their time to becoming an athlete, navigating through the lessons of having to work hard, win some, lose some, make sacrifices, etc. There needs to be a standard and qualifications set in place. Some of the dancing today could not possibly be defended even by people who truly support adult Irish dancers. Adult Irish dancers are going to always have their reason as to why they dance, just like us all. But it is unfair that they are getting an opportunity that has to be earned and worked for by younger dancers for years, just handed to them. Let them dance, but in their own organization. Similar to how people retire from college sports and join IM teams to meet up a few times a week and play a friendly game.

- I’ll never understand why parents of young dancers are so angry and threatened by adult dancers. They don’t need their own org., they have their own category. And it’s not your choice whether they dance for fun or to compete. (NT) -- Mind your own business, 21:53:37 07/08/25 Tue

- The problem is CLRG and their ridiculous adult categories not the adults. Do you think they DON'T want to be treated the same as everyone else with age categories and grade movement and proper qualification? CLRG happy to take their money but treats them shamefully. And who forced you to watch them anyway! (More) -- (More), 23:48:49 07/08/25 Tue
