Peter, I think you and Remington are correct. We had the GMO here last weekend, and I sat at the range for an hour just watching technique.

The thing that I see, and I think it directly relates to the release, is how FAST the ball flies off of the clubface. YET, the followthrough is seemingly far behind. With my game, and amateurs in general, it seems like the ball and clubhead travel at the same speed after the ball is struck. But, the ball flies off of a pro's club WAY before you see the clubhead come up to the finish position. I used to think it was acceleration to just past the ball, but now you have me wondering...
