If your child is in K-1 and you don't not agree with the small tokens that are given for achievement, then don't participate. Earning a certificate and/or the Ice Cream party hosted by Mrs. Lee, in my opinion do not constitute a bribe. I look at them as being rewards for reaching goals. I should have been more specific with regards to my company's reward trips. These are for independent "contractors". We are not employees. As I stated before, incentives can be found in all areas of the real world. For example, do you belong to a video store club, or do you purchase your dog/cat food from Petco where after purchasing so many videos or so many bags of food you are rewarded with a freebie.
Again, I state that if you are uncomfortable with the program don't participate. The same may be said of the school fundraisers. Participation is not mandatory.
