Forgot one more question. There was mention of "polling" the PTA members regarding large purchases. Was this $5000 school sign not considered a large purchase? That seems like a lot of money for an unnecessary school sign. We don't remember voting on this issue this year or even last year, when was the vote? $5000 would buy an awful lot of needed textbooks, imho.

A general PTA meeting would solve a lot of the communication problems. You don't even need a newsletter if you hold monthly meetings, open to the public.

We're all on the same side, believe it or not. Our children come first, and the PTA advocates One Voice for children, parents and teachers to make positive reforms at our school. Understandably, people's situations change and we're sorry to hear that a lot of the Board Members have had to work again full time. Just ask for help and we're here for you. :) Please keep an open mind and realize that there are issues that do need to be addressed and parents have a right to be informed.

Some parents also have to work full time and can't always volunteer time at the school. The newsletter is a perfect example of how parents who work can contribute by putting something together at home. Get other parents involved in different ways, and this will contribute to the overall school satisfaction.
