Stretching the spring won't accomplish anything (accept maybe a slight initialjump of velocities), it will just return to it's original shape pretty quick ;)

Ways to hurt your marker due to a cut spring:
-If you cut the spring soo short that it doesn't push against the striker.
-Or if you cut it to a length that doesn't provide enough push to open the valve.

(Don't worry losing a couple coils is not going to harm your F4)
