Discussion about the ACI F4 Illustrator paintball gun, ACI Griffin, and of paintball in general. Check the F4OG FAQ before posting a question here (there may be an answer for your question). Other non-paintball topics should be taken to the General Discussion Forum.

  • installing an expansion chamber -- Foo, 17:22:19 03/13/03 Thu (64.90.44.58)
Can anyone tell me what additional parts I need to install an ACI expansion chamber on a stock 2k2 F4? I read the entry in the FAQ here, but I'm pretty sure that's talking about a 99 F4, and I think the fittings are a bit different.

I gather I probably need a 4 inch hose, but I'm not sure what fittings I might need to attach it to the bottom line or the expansion chamber, or if I can use the ones the current hose is using or would need different ones.

Thanks for any replies. Pointers to any docs for installing this would be fine too, I haven't found any other than the FAQ entry here.

And I know I could have my local shop do it but I'd rather do it myself and learn something about my marker in the process.

There have been several messages posted here recently explictly about either the Tippmann A5 or the Smart Parts Impulse.

While the topic of this message board is "Discussion about the ACI F4 Illustrator paintball gun, ACI Griffin, and of paintball in general", this message board is a part of the F4 Owners Group and is used by its members to discuss topics related to the ACI F4 and Griffin.

Many of the F4OG membership are quite knowledgable in other paintball guns as well, including both the A5 and Impulse, I want to keep the focus of this board on the ACI line of markers. There are plenty of online groups and message boards that cater specifically to the A5 and Impulse, and, other than an occasional question, topics related specifically to the A5 and Impulse should be made in their forums.

You don't go to Burger King and begin asking questions about Big Macs.

i just got the impulse with the bottom max flow regulator thing on it, and it is so damn confusing. what am i doing wrong? i have a regular co2 tank it with no anit siphon or on/off valve, and the pressure is like all messed up. not to mention that the stock progressive barrell is not that accurate. would the co2 have anything to do with it????? do i absolutely have to have anti siphon with an on/off valve??????is that why it isnt working properly????

Well... the 'results' of my attempts at lowering the operating pressure of my 99F4 have been less than spectacular. I haven't resorted to anything drastic (and haven't borked out my marker) and have been able to bring the pressure down to roughly 700 psi before recock fails. This is considerably higher than I was expecting, but better than nothing. I don't have any efficiency numbers yet, but would bank that I'm getting a few more shots per tank than before. HAVE NO FEAR I'm not done yet! When I get the chance to work on it more I still have plenty of ideas. When I get something really solid to post I'll give a rundown of the project.

  • Pringle -- Kenneth Craft, 01:42:59 02/28/03 Fri (141.157.39.179)
Its been a very long time since I've posted here. First thing I'd like to say: I pulled my F4 out last week to get ready for an upcoming scenario game. I loan it to a friend that plays about once a year. I haven't used the gun in almost a year and a half, I cleaned it, and lubed it, and it still shoots as well as it did when I retired it almost 2 years ago. Its a 99, the sear is in good condition, and I have no mods on it.

Now for the other reason I was posting:
I would like to announce that http://www.scenariopaintballgames.com has a new webmaster/editor. Me. The owner has been gracious enough to entrust me with the job of taking over the site, and revamping it into a great resource for scenario players.

I have many ideas for the site, and alot of them will take time to come to reality. But I am up for the task, and with my current job (netting 35k+ for Monday only work), I have a little time on my hands to work on websites.

What I am looking for are people that are willing to write up game end reports, first experience articles, or any article that may be relevant to a scenario player. I'm also looking for people that are willing to send in photos of games they've been to. The site is producer nuetral, as it is geared toward the player, not the producer, so any photos from any games will be posted. If you have any interest in helping me out with this project, please email me at kenny@craftbros.com and let me know. I'm up for any ideas. Give me at least a week or 2 to get a new design layout complete.

  • Winter in an F4 wonderland -- DaRaptor, 17:51:14 02/22/03 Sat (128.187.0.166)
I was bored out of my mind the other day, reading mindless tech articles, and I read about going liquid with CO2 in the winter, and how you can get better consistency and operate just fine by running pure liquid when it's really cold. I know the F4 has a good valve that tolerates the occasional liquid spill quite well, but I was wondering if anybody had ever tried to run one straight liquid before, and if that'll work with the F4...

I know it'd still be really hard on the seals, and would probably have to change them....but I think it'd be worth it to change seals every couple days of play just to be able to shoot well in sub-freezing temperatures (IE. where I live 5 months of the year). Anybody have any experience with running liquid in general? Anyone try this with an F4?
