Got my barrel and used it today (worked awesome) thank again mav! I ended up with a 12" black custom products, .689 bore.

I was wondering if there is anything i can get to make my gun more tourney friendly. i know it will never be an impulse, or an angel, but im not paying 1000 for a gun.

    Any ideas on upgrades?

  • CO2 Leak at Vertical Adapter -- Kaylin, 01:23:35 04/13/03 Sun (65.59.179.148)
I had just recently bought an ACI F4 Illustrator. It was working fine but then there was a serious leak of CO2 which had managed to empty my 9 oz tank in a matter of secs. I found where the problem was. It was where the vertical adapter (not the grip it self) connects the the gun. The O-ring came loose. I managed to get it back in, not really sure if it was seriously damaged or not. But the Adapter is loose and i don't know how to tighten it. Im sure if i got it tightened it would fix the leak.

  • chopping -- Don Martin, 21:17:34 04/12/03 Sat (205.251.68.243)
    Hi all,

Been having a problem with my '99 f4 as of recently..

It's been chopping badly.. and nothing i seem to do will fix it. SOme recent addtions have been a drop forward and a LP chamber(just casue)

What I have noticed is that when a pull the trigger it shoots, but i'm noticing a large amount of air (co2) coming out of the powerfeed, enough that it seems to push the next ball up, so during rapid fire the ball is only half way in the chamber.

If I limit how fast i shoot there isn't as much as a problem, but i'm still chopping after 5-6 shots.

thinking that the LP chamber might be a start of the problem i removed it. Still the same. i've lowered the velocity cleaned, completely broken everything down.. and i'm still haveing the problem.. i can't see how the Drop forward may cause the problem.

Any suggustions would be a great help..

    regards
    Don

First off, I've heard it said that the ACI Maverick is an excellent gun, as far as pumps go. Is this true, and what barrels does it take?

Second, does anyone know of a good pump gun that takes Cocker barrels? (Besides the obvious WGP Sniper or a converted 'cocker)

Ok im sure that subject line sounds really weird......

There is field near me that is only open the 2nd saturday of the month, and one of the things they do is an "eat the paintballs" contest. If you can eat your hopper full of paintballs, you get an angel. eat 150, a cocker.

I'm thinking about trying this (to sell the gun i get for cash), but how sick am i gonna get eating 200 paintballs??

Are the ASA/Drop Forward screws on the bottom of the '98 grip frame compatible with current standards or are they something different (like Spyder's are).

I've looked around, viewed pics but I haven't really seen anything that answers it.

    Thanks guys!

  • Possible F4OG.com interruption -- Mark, 12:13:52 03/26/03 Wed (205.174.22.22)
Burlee.com, the hosts of the F4OG website, is centralizing their servers. The window for the F4OG to be moved is between March 26 and March 30, from 11:30 pm until 6:00 am.

"Please note that during the Web server maintenance you will not be able to browse, FTP, or update your site. Your site will be unavailable on one occasion within this maintenance period. We anticipate downtime to be less than one hour."

The message board should be unaffected in that it is uses a completely different host (voy.com). If you want the direct link to the message board it is "http://www.voy.com/10002/".

Does anyone remember when the F4OG simply disappeared when our pervious host simply went out of business? This time I WILL have multiple backups ready!

  • Barrels -- Rafael Cordero, 23:55:44 03/17/03 Mon (67.34.18.79)
Hey guys, I just found your website after browsing some other paintball websites, and I just want to say I think its wonderful. I got my F4 about 3 years ago, and I love it, it out performed my friends Spyders today, which made me feel good because they all had electronic triggers and fancy stuff I don't have.

I am looking to upgrade my barrel, and don't know what to get. The ACI website doesn't list prices, my local airsmith doesn't have any in stock, and the paintball online stores I normally browse don't have any for the F4.

Can you guys offer any help? What should I get and how long? What is the difference between one-piece and combo barrels, and what is the "zero gravity" thing the ACI barrels say?

Sorry if it is a lot of questions, but I want to make sure I am well informed before I buy something.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Getting back into Paintball and need info -- Tank, 14:36:09 03/23/03 Sun (68.63.227.241)
Hi guys. It has been over a year maybe 2 now since I last visited this board. Before that time I had been a weekend warrior in my backyard with a group of friends (or enemies it depends on which team). The last time I visited the board I was selling my Paintball equipment cause my group of friends and I just got out of playing. My equipment consisted of 1 '99 F4, Lapco BigShot Aluminum barrel, 6 stage expansion chamber, and 20 oz tank. I got $200 for my equipment from a local guy. Well, as fate has it, my roomate and myself along with a few friends are about to get into the sport again. One of the guys went out and for $50 got a gun and some equipment, MY OLD EQUIPMENT. Aparently the guy that bought it from me only played about 2 games with it, it looks, and performs as well as it did when I sold it. ANyway, I am looking for a new gun myself, and probably gonna get another F4. I have done little research myself but I am wondering what new upgrades they have if any for the gun? I am aware of the ACI double trigger, but do they have a electronic upgrade for it yet? Basically I just need info on what new gadgets are out for the F4. I am debateing on getting another, or maybe a different gun just to try something different. Just e-mail me any info at cj21_2001@yahoo.com. THanks guys.

Well, now I have introduced 3 more people to paintball and of corse there first marker is the F4, I picked up all 3 on e-bay and the prices are great and they shoot great with a little tweeking. What I love best is how they talk about there markers out shooting peoples spyders and stuff and how the other people think they got ripped off on the price when they see the F4 preform, the only problem I.C is going up against the F4's cuz they rock hehe ;)Oh yea and one of them got a Zero Gravity Barrel and a Custom Products barrel and it's a tie id say between them they both shoot very well, and they both look sexy but the custom products dose match the blue F4 to a tee with that blue ano on it!

I'm having problems getting this posted in reply to DaRaptor's post below...so here it is as another thread.

Yeah, actually thought about that myself after I experienced a similar result from working on my son's Spyder Imagine. The free flowing non-venturi bolt actually aggravated the recock problem.
I have done considerable flow work from the ASA to the bolt, including matching the bolt input to the new valve output. This is probably not giving the striker any initial pressure pulse necessary to get it moving backward.
I haven't decided how I'm going to proceed with it yet, other than producing some modified valves to direct more of the available air to the striker and some spring juggling. I believe I have plenty of air flow through the valve to the bolt. What I don't have plenty of is time to mess around with it! :-* It still shoots well at the higher pressure.

thanks for the thought on it. I'm very open to ideas!

  • F4 Operating pressure -- DaRaptor, 02:46:58 03/18/03 Tue (128.187.251.175)
This should really be in response to Big Mac's post from a couple weeks ago, but it's way down on the list, and I figured people would see it here....
I've taken my F4 down to just below 400psi before it started having re-cock problems....that's without paint and no internal mods except for 3 hours of careful polishing, an HVC, 4X-chamber, and Palmer Stabilizer (probably the strangest way to set it up you've ever seen... I'll try and get a pic soon).

Big Mac, what have you done to your marker to give it trouble re-cocking at only 700psi? maybe mine's an abnormality, but 700 seems a little high, especially if you've been taking steps to reduce the necessary pressure.

Actually, a thought just occured to me as I wrote that.. What's probably happening, is you're making the bolt so high flowing, that there's not enough back-pressure to drive the striker....seeing as how the same stream of gas must go both directions...it's like in electrical circuits, the current flows the greatest where there is least resistance....well, if you reduce the resistance along one part of the circuit to zero, then no current at all will flow along the rest....maybe that's what's happening?
