  • Freak Barrel / f4 Illustrator valveplug problem -- 151&coke, 12:34:16 05/13/03 Tue (204.68.152.1)
Hey all. I just bought a brand spanking new Freak Barrel system (which cost me more than my f4, heh). the problem is that the freak barrel is so wide that the bottom of the barrel is knocking into the top of the front valve plug. It looks like I'm going to have to grind about 6mm off the top of my valve plug to fit the barrel on.

I think Im relativly safe griding the top of the valve plug flat since:

    1. The valve plug threads with the same side up every time.
    2. The valve plug seal oring is inside the marker, so I shouldn't have to worry about leaking air if I grind the outside of it flat.

Has anyone else had this problem?
If so, can anyone give some advice here?
If I screw it up, can a new valve plug be purchased?
    Much appreciated.

  • sure.. -- griffin-owner, 19:10:56 05/08/03 Thu (63.166.32.231)
the gun wasn't pressurized beause the cup seal and valve stem were in upside down. i had the stem in the spring, when it should be the other way around. it was leaking because i had my o-ring was crooked on the verticle adapter, fixed by taking it off

  • air leak / no pressure problem -- griffin-owner, 14:46:59 05/08/03 Thu (63.166.32.231)
okay i took my gun apart (bottom chamber) like i do every 5 times i go paintballing. i put it back together and now there is a small leak that sounds like its coming from the verticle bottle adapter (btw i don't use a bottomline i don't like the weight balance). when i move the tank left and right while its screwed in the leak seems to get quieter and louder. also when i pull the trigger the gun acts as if the tank isn't even on. i've replaced every o-ring inside the gun and on the reservoir plug.

i know its not my tank because i tried my friend's and it does the same thing also my tank works fine on his gun.

this all happened about an hour after i just got back from paintballing yesterday.

ANY input that could lead to a solution is appreciated

i recently got the zero-gravity 1piece for my griffin. it seems i've had at least 2 balls break the last 2 times i've went. i'm shooting at 280fps. i've noticed that every time a ball breaks pink paint comes out the porting, so it could be the paint. but if its not the cheap paintballs what else could be causing the breakage?

  • Drop Forward for 98? and PMI Pure Energy -- David, 09:10:15 04/30/03 Wed (128.220.88.156)
Hey guys, I just stumbled upon the PMI Pure Energy 48ci 3000 psi nitro tank online... $79.50! Pretty crazy. I think I'll have to get one after the summer's over.

Problem is I have a 98 F4 and I'm guessing I might want a drop forward since the steel tanks are supposedly very heavy. Is K&P Customs the way to go here or are there other options?

    Thanks.

(P.S. if you have any comments on my website- http://www.college-paintball.com/jhu I'd be glad to hear them)

Rafael Cordero was just too long to type......

I played today and I noticed that I had quite a few balls chop in my gun. When there is no barrel in the gun, all I had to do was slightly flick my wrist to get the ball to fall out. Could my ball retention spring be FUBARd?

I also continue to have recock problems. Everything is lubed up, and I don't THINK im shooting too fast....we play backyard ball with no chrono....we just all decide what is "too fast". I think I may have a part in backwards, even though it shoots the same no matter how I put this piece in. The spring that connects to the velocity adjuster has 2 sides, the side w/ a white plastic plug, and the side with the metal pin that goes into it. Which side goes into the striker?

    Thank again!

  • Good place to shop for Griffin parts? -- MasterBlaster, 18:24:18 04/23/03 Wed (12.219.196.253)
I was just wondering if there was a good, inexpensive place where i can find parts for my griffin. It came with a new barrel and an expansion chamber, so all im looking for is a rear-cocking venturi bolt, a high volume cell, probably a maintenence kit for it and a double trigger (all black of course). Because i bought this gun used i want to do something unique to it that i can say i did and i think i need new orings. If anyone can help i'd be appreciative.
(and P.S. I can't buy stuff through ACI becuase thier site is down and i can't call them.)

  • Great new hard shell gear case -- Keith Cox, 23:53:35 04/25/03 Fri (65.29.213.115)
I have just bought a Rufus Dawg hard shell marker/gear case. This is the best hard shell that I have seen. It has all the room I could need. I have a stock on my automag and if a remove my barrel it fits great and I still have room for all my barrels. The foam in the case hold every thing in snug. It doesn't rattle around at all. Here is what they have to say about it. The Hardcase is the ultimate in protection for your paintball marker and gear. The innovative design works with a top shelf to snuggly hold your marker, and a bottom storage compartment for extra gear. The Hardcase is molded from a rugged palstic and will take all the abuse you can give it. So if you are in the looking for a realy great case check them out at. www.rufusdawg.com So take a look and tell us what you think.

  • Recock, Recock, Recock... HELP! -- Troy Bilodeau, 23:01:27 04/14/03 Mon (68.0.199.132)
I just bought my F4 Illustrator. I've ran into a few problems with it. First of all, it kept sounding like it was shooting 2 or 3 shots when I was only pulling the trigger once but it was only shooting 1 (but then i took the low pressure chamber off then it worked fine). The other problem which I'm having trouble fixing is I have to recock it almost every shot. Once in a while it would work fine but after about 10 shots, I'd have to recock it, but for the most part i have to recock it every shot. If anyone knows what my problem is could you please respond. I read somewhere that the cold CO2 causes it to do that but after my CO2 wasn't cold anymore, it still did it a lot. So please, Help! Thanks.

  • Selling 88/4500 Bulldog 2 kit -- Mike, 04:32:17 04/19/03 Sat (128.187.0.166)
This system is in excelent condition, unfortunately I don't have pictures. I bought it naively thinking I'd need it, but it really hasn't helped any, simply because I'm trying to run a blowback on it. I bought a Stabilizer instead, and I just got a Phantom off e-bay, so I really don't need the N2.

I'm asking $200 for the lot (Tank, Regulator, dust cover with leash, and DYE cover). Insured shipping by UPS extra.

It's all basically brand new, I got the stuff back in December, thinking I'd be playing in the cold, and I've only really used it once or twice since then, but I DID send it back to ACI for a factory re-build, because when I called them, they said it was an older iteration of the '2' and they replaced the piston. So basically this thing is in as good of shape as ANYTHING that's used can possibly be.

The fiber tank has a 5 year hydro date of 11/2002, and even though there is a slight ding in it, I had it inspected by a DOT certified tech, and he said it was fine. The reg is in great shape, so far as I know, and the Bulldog 2 is quite an improvement over the original. As to actual performance, I havn't really had it long enough to give a good answer, but like I said, it's basically brand new in excelent condition.

I'll be listing it on e-bay in a few days, but if anyone's interested, I'd rather not pay the seller's fees (poor college student, need every dollar =)

    Thanks,
    -Mike
