You may want to go through it with a parts kit just because (it may help fix things a bit and prevent any further problems)

That's really weird... I'd check your gas lines for obstructions etc. What kind of tank are you using and does the marker have the same problem when you use a different tank?

What is the cup seal?
Cup Seal- White plasticy looking thing in the front-lower chamber. Sits on a silver rod that should extend through the valve (towards the back of the gun)

Was he using a different tank?

Gouges on the face of the bolt could cause chops...(you could file them down)

Next time you get a bad chop like that and shells around your bolt and you can't get your bolt unstuck feel free to strip the gun, insert a wooden dowel into the chamber against the bolt and smack it with enough force to remove it. Strip then gun down and clean it.
