From what I know about the A-5, I think tippman would build the back of it to fit into the "modular breach" rather than threading it. I don't have any evidence to back this up, but my thinking is this....They can thread it into M98's because it's got a huge, identically milled thread patern. The A-5 doesn't have that, it's like every other marker (except for mags), in that the barrels just thread in until they're stopped by hitting something or running out of threads, and the final orientation of the barrel (as far as rotation is concerned) will vary from gun to gun, barrel to barrel.

Also, since the A-5 breach is modular anyway, AND given that he flatline is more or less a 'permanent' mod (ie, not meant to be stripped off after every game for cleaning, changing barrels, etc) I would suspect that Tippman would simply find it more cost effective and more reliable to make it a one-piece unit that just replaced the whole breech assembly.

I could be dead wrong on all of this, like I said, I have no evidence to support any of this, and I've never held, let alone disassembled an M-98 flatline kit, I've only seen diagrams and pictures, as well as a few owned by friends. But from what I know the above seems logical.

*shrugs*
