"No. I came home to see if I could still do something to prevent foxes from killing each other" replied the old male defiantly. "The war won't do our species any good. One can't get a decent family without fearing to be parted by the fangs of the other side, if you are of the same color; or to run against your relatives's honor if you are of different colors. Hah! I found myself a family out of here, and the only thing we had to fear was man and his tricks. There are so few of us, and we even have to kill each other? Besides..." he growled deep in his chest. "I have my reasons to dislike the waste of every single life, be it red or blue." Images of the night when he had lost Mysterious flashed before his eyes at those words. She was carrying their baby son while he carried the girl cub. That night, he had lost both of them and was left to take care of Tawny. Although many years had passed ever since, it still hurt him slightly to talk about those times. But in order to prevent the park foxes from further killings, he was ready to live with the ghosts of his past until he had some life left.
Now, feeling Traveller's stare on him, he cleared his throat. "We've lost a son, my mate and I. She carried him when she was... caught. The ground was littered with traps and well... my tail was just another consequence."
