Pretty simple one this.

Do you consider it good positioning to interpose 12 players between yourself and the ball?

Shortcutting the scrum means that you potnetially can lose a clear sight of the ball and/or ball carrier, and I cannot see how that is good positioning, or an imporvement over following the ball carrier around the back of the scrum and not having an impeded view.

Also, it means that all 3 officials are in front of the ball as the 2 TJ have been standing back with the offending team, so there is no official back in line with, or behind, the level of the ball carrier.

Getting into a good position for the next play is no excuse for being in a poor position for the current play.
