I saw a referee in a "B" grade game on the weekend do a great thing -

Penalty against the ball carrier , penalised player gives the ref a gobful and then proceeds to kick the ball full pelt back towards his own goal line. Ref marches the player downfield about FIFTY metres to where the ball landed. Ref then calls time out yells out to the ball boy to stop going after the ball and then tells the player who gave him a gobful to go and fetch the ball which has by now rolled over the touch line and down into a gully about another 50 metres away. Player begrudgingly walks after the ball, delivers it back to the referee who then promptly sin binned him for 10 minutes. It was classic !

One of the best pieces of refereeing I have ever seen !

If only the rude and arrogant people who play first grade and set a terrible example to park players could have something like that done to them ... if only.
