I suggest if you dont like the term bishop you start to call them area managers, because thats all they are.
That's also not a biblical office ;-)


If you believe that the church have a message to the modern world, and as you say "I dont mind a gifted sister being ahead of an ungifted brother in an organization, but in the Lord this is improper" You are going to have a hard time making that sound sensible to the world outside the church.

I don't mind if what I say about things "in the Lord" isn't sensible to the world outside the church.
The Bible says clearly "To a woman, I do not permit to teach" and that is - like it or not - part of the book which I build my faith, worldview and lifestyle on.
People can argue all they want about "times are changing", principles aren't.

Again, I'd say "in an organization, that is okay", and for me, the Anglican (as well as Lutheran, Catholic etc) church are just that - religious organizations.
