Subject: A priest, a minister and a rabbi

Religious leaders protest the governor's order to crack-down on illegal immigration.

What do you think? Does your religion support illegal immigration? Does illegal immigration compare to slavery--as a legal question the churches should be involbed in, on the side of the illegal immigrant as they were on the side of the slaves?

Is this a question about law? Or is it a question about human need and mercy?

It is strictly a legal matter. Church and State should not mix. Religion and politics should be separate.

You can't say that in the case of illegal immigration it's a case of mercy. Illegal immigrants are choosing to come here, ILLEGALLY. Slaves were brought against their will. There are legal ways to become an American citizen, one need not live here illegally. Immigrants might live in a country that lack the freedoms of America. In which case they should fight for their freedoms of their own country just like our fore fathers did, the way our soldiers always have done so.

Even Christ, full of mercy, said we are to obey the laws of the land. "Render unto Caesar's the things that are his and unto God the things which belong to him"

I thought you were about to offer up a joke, Joan! lol
Did you know that no Jew is banned from emigrating to Israel no matter where they come from. That has everything to do with history and how Jews were banned from emigrating to countries during the Holocaust. Israeli laws says that every Jew can consider Israel their homeland. With our history, our relgious leaders certainly regard human need and mercy above all.
